True but then I would just get Netflix. I love prime but only use it for shipping. For streaming content absolutely go Netflix over Amazon imo.
If you have a friend like me with a massive content of movies on their computer you could both get plex and stream the content for free via plex. Sharing plex content is free.

Is Netflix superior for both movies and TV series?

I've got Netflix and use my Sister's Amazon account.
I like the content on Netflix better. There may be more movies on Amazon but Netflix seems to have a broader selection.jmo
There seems to be a little of everything on Netflix but I haven't explored Amazon as much.

Only if you don't care at all about HBO shows. Also, you cannot purchase movies or tv series through Netflix, but you do not necessarily need a Prime account to do so through Amazon.

I don't watch much prime, but I've saved hundreds if not thousands on prime deals. (combined obviously.)

It's hard to say either has an "A list" movie selection as bad as it is, but it looks like they have the same deals in place for their A list movies. They get the same ones at the same time. I think NetFlix probably has more depth if you want to see something not on the A list, but in general movie selection should probably be considered a toss up.
Regarding TV, Amazon has better deals with Syfy, USA (Suits), BBC (Downton Abbey, Orphan Black), FX (Justified) They also have the HBO content and popular shows like Vikings and The Americans.
NetFlix appears to have better deals with The CW (Arrow, Supernatural, The 100), ABC (Greys Anatomy, Scandal, Agents of Shield), and their own original content. There are probably more, but my viewing habits may limit what I'm exposed to.
I also think Amazon may have a better deal with MTV, I see MTV shows like Awkward pushed on Prime but don't recall seeing anything like that on NetFlix.
If you feel the need to choose between the 2, you really should check them out because while you could find plenty to watch on both services, they are starting to become more differentiated in what they offer. For instance, despite Amazon having a better deal with USA than NetFlix, NetFlix has Psych and Amazon doesn't.

Hit and miss. I have both, but with binge watching of HBO shows, it's been a while since I watched something on Netflix. I'm considering dropping it. Amazon Prime I got with the intention of using the streaming video service, but I got hooked on Prime shipping.
If I had to give up one, I would drop Netflix, without hesitation - and I was an early adopter - I was on Netflix when it was DVDs in the mail, only.
Yeah, buddy, I'm old - wanna make something of it?
