Killing off Hicks and Newt was really bold filmmaking and raises the emotional stakes for the Ripley character yet again.

The best part of Alien 3 was that it continued the trend of Ripley's hair getting shorter and shorter. The rest of it was dreck.

Aliens 3 might just suck
Alien is great but doesn't hold up with time for some (does for me though)

Aliens is one of my favorites ever

Alien and Aliens are A+ classics, no doubt about it.

People saying Alien 3 sucks need to watch it again, and watch the 2003 special edition version. It's not an A+ like those other 2 but it's a solid B.

No. The Godfather Trilogy is without a doubt the greatest movie trilogy of all-time. Sophia Coppola's performance aside, The Godfather Part III is still a very good movie. The reason why it sticks out like a sore thumb is because its two predecessors are among the greatest films ever made. People forget that The Godfather Part III was still very well received by critics and ended up with 7 Academy Award nominations, the second most of any film that year.

I probably can't say this, but no way. The third is still not a good movie, and it isn't just Sophia that's the problem.

If you can limit Star Wars to the Original Trilogy, there's just no other answer (and I even want one). That trilogy was THAT good, and a complete game changer for film, much more so than The Godfather Trilogy.

A Trilogy should be judged more on the merits of the entire narrative arc, and not the merits of singular films. The GF trilogy fails too much as a whole, regardless of the quality of the first 2.

On the top of my head:

Star Wars
Lord of the Rings
Toy Story
Dollars Trilogy
Godfather
Back to the Future

I'm sorry, but it's just a ridiculous drop off for me to consider it the greatest trilogy of all time. Yes many of the other 3rd films I listed in those trilogies are a drop off, but LOTR and Toy Story are 100% consistent, and you can make an argument for which one is the best.

Trilogy equals THREE movies. Which terminator movie are you going to possibly use to complete the trilogy? The first 2 are canon, everything else is bullshite.

Dark Knight trilogy has to be in contention. It's not THE best, but it belongs on the list somewhere.

I can think of a lot of trilogies that have two solid movies, but not many with three.

I think Jedi took away from Star Wars, and GF3 took away from what could of been the best trilogy.

Toy Story is solid. TDK is a good one as well. I thought Matrix would have been.
I would probably have to give Lord of the Rings the best trilogy, though it's not a movie I enjoy to rewatch.

Nobody agrees with me really, but I love Alien 3.

Also think it is in consideration for second best trilogy. At least original trilogy.

Star Wars has it beat.

Somewhere towards the bottom.

Rises just shite on that entire trilogy.

For lesser known best trilogies, the Before trilogy and the Three Colors trilogy are both amazing.

The Vengeance Trilogy is also great:

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Oldboy
Lady Vengence

Also, the Infernal Affairs Trilogy.

if anyone hasn't seen it, the 2003 special edition cuts for both Aliens and Alien 3 make the movies a lot better.

Not sure about alien 3 but you are dead wrong about aliens here.

Not bad to see it, if you're already familiar with the movie, but I'm glad it was cut my first time watching.
