Found a wormhole in the solar system.
But I'm honestly not sure if I've ever anticipated a movie more than this. Every single word and trailer has spoken pretty much directly to me and my passion for space, and this trailer just upped it to 11. Really hoping this goes down as Nolan's masterpiece.

The more I see these trailers the more I think this movie is going to be one of two things:
1. a masterpiece that we look back on in 100 years as one of the top 10 movies of all time.
2. liberal, Global warming flick that was too political and not enough substance
I think 1 is looking more and more likely

My vote is for #2

Wrong choice.

I'm going with 1 simply for the tag line. This movie I think is going to have a very positive and uplifting message for humanity as a whole. Even if humans destroy the Earth in this future, it doesn't mean its pretentious liberal bullshite (Wall-e being the prime example). Unless we nuke ourselves into an oblivion, the time will eventually come when humans have to leave the Earth and find another home.
Looking at all the trailers, it's definitely seeming like the point of the movie being that humanity at its core are pioneers and can truly live beyond their seen potential. I really hope this film is good enough to get our nation as a whole interested in space again and to start thinking more in the long term rather just in a 4 year period.

I'm already disappointed in this movie for you.
Chances are it will be a really great movie, now hoping it reinvigorates the nation's interest in space exploration on its own is a tall order.

Yeah, I'm aware of that one, but I'm still holding out hope for my species to get back into space travel before the shite hits the fan.
And it's also got Gravity and Cosmos to help it out, to where I think interest has marginally returned, but we need something as big as The Dark Knight to help get everyone back on board. Nolan made the nation obsessed with Batman again despite having a falling out, so hoping he does the same with space.

the look of it is amazing. i think the acting will carry the show in this one. Nolans stories tend to not be the most solid.
What the frick.

I completely agree with all of this.
I get excited just talking about time dilation. I get excited when I read an article on a recently discovered planet orbiting a "nearby" star. Space is just incredibly interesting to me, and it seems obvious to me that as a species, this is where the collective focus of the human race needs to be directed. Space is the future, and it has the answers - nothing else matters.
Instead, we're still acting like primates as we fight over land in the Middle East and in Ukraine. Nationalism is still a global phenomenon. Discrimination is omnipresent.
I envision a global society hundreds of years from now that has advanced to the point where interstellar travel is a reality. There are no countries. No borders. No discrimination. No nationalistic pride. No disputes over land. It's not a culturally homogenized global society, but one that's acutely aware of how trivial such differences actually are in the context of our existence in the universe. There would be a singular, collective goal as a species to explore and colonize the corners of our galaxy while concurrently preserving what it means to be a human - not an American, Russian, or Indian...but a human.
I occasionally wonder if there would be anything that could accelerate this process. Would the discovery of sentient life on another planet unify our civilization behind a singular, collective goal of space exploration? What would a foreign, sentient race think of our current civilization?
Why are they fighting each other?
Why are they so antagonistic towards one another?
Why are they so content to just sit there on that rock?
Don't they want to know what's out there?
No one has any desire to search for the answers. It's akin to a population in the 1400s having no desire to cross the ocean and discover just what else is out there. My hope is that a technological breakthrough or communication with foreign life will ignite a global obsession with space exploration.

Dammit.. All that parent/kid crying and missing each other shite is gonna make me choke up. Can't handle that kinda crap since I had kids.

Space is incredibly boring to me but Nolan and MM make this a must see for me

Meh... it'll probably end up like Halo where the colonies are fighting the government... and then we get wiped out by alien religious fanatics. Better start building some gotdamn Spartans!
