I've only seen it twice, and it's a rare movie I watch twice. This thread has reminded me to watch it again.

Great movie. Easily one of the best Sci-Fi movies I've ever seen.

Great movie. Saw it on the wide film or whatever it was in IMAX and it was one of those movie experiences I'll never forget.
When they went through the wormhole I was literally on the edge of my seat. Music is fantastic and it's certainly up there in terms of top sci-fi films of all-time.
The movie's ending obviously wasn't really what I or many others was wanting, but I think it gets an extremely bad rap, especially on this site.

Falls of the fricking rails at the black hole scene. From then on it's dogshit. Loved it up until that point.
Wait.
Are you questioning the veracity of a guy getting pulled into a black hole, where density and gravitational forces are so crushing that not even light can escape it (hence the name black hole), and ending up in a vacuum within the space-time continuum behind his daughter's bedroom wall on Earth, communicating complex quantum theory physics to her through Morse code, then leaving the black hole and waking up in a space hospital?
How dare you.

It's a bad movie. Not Prometheus bad but bad nonetheless

People keep talking about the music.
The nonstop organ got on my nerves after a while.

Watched it on FX when it came on too. Found I liked it more on the second viewing.

I really like Interstellar, and I have realized it still holds my respect after a few years to think about it.
In terms of movie experience, I saw it with a buddy in IMAX in Nola and it was easily the best I have ever been to. I really don't think it can truly be appreciated like it should unless its viewed on a very large screen, because the cinematography is just so great. Two moments I'll always remember from that IMAX showing: the scene crossing over the wormhole into the bulk, and the bass and surprise when Mann is talking and suddenly it just explodes.
I have a good understanding of most of the physics used for the movie, as well as Kip Thorne's contributions and I really can't fault the movie for the third act. The entire movie is based on our best understanding of what is possible in nature, and even the third act is still constrained by hard science. Sure, you could claim the third act is poor and utterly ridiculous, but the truth is we really can't argue one way or the other until we discover these things. Regardless of artistic depiction, the idea that gravity can influence any moment of time due to existence of higher dimensions is at the forefront of science right now.

It is simultaneously Nolan's greatest and worst effort. I love the movie for its spectacle and grandeur, but overall there's a lot left to be desired by some very basic plot issues. Like the guy dying on the water planet. Like Dr. Mann being a borderline Deus ex Machina. Like the forced introduction of the time loop paradox in the "tesseract" and the constant recitation of Dylan Thomas's poem, which by the end makes you want to watch the world burn. But ultimately it accomplishes so much that the problems do not make it bad. It is still quite good. But the Prestige, Memento and Inception all shite on it in terms of quality, and I'm not certain that Inception isn't better visually.
I still love the movie, but it should be held to account for its glaring failures.

One of the best sci fi movies of the 2000's. Hands down. Visually incredible, deep, emotional. Hit all the right notes
