Considering they have up to 10 best picture nominees now, I can see it getting nominated.

I think it gets nominated for Best Picture, based on what the reviews are saying.

Over 80 positive reviews with no negatives and that's your answer?

Was going to wait to watch this on demand, but now I think I'll check it out.

I mean, I'm sure it's a great kids movie, but that's how it's being graded- as a children's movie.
Frozen was a great kids movie, but when you put up alongside real films like Birdman, Foxcatcher, Nightcrawler, Edge of Tomorrow, etc, it's just dumb.

so in order to be considered for best picture you can't be a comedy, musical, or target kids as your main audience?

Frozen is better than all of those movies except for Nightcrawler.
But I think if they submit for Best Picture they can't submit it for Animated Feature as well. So do they want the guaranteed win for Animated Feature or take a chance at history? I doubt that they would win so they may as well just take the sure thing.

Obviously you haven't read the reviews, since it's pretty unanimous that adults will enjoy the movie more than the kids. I'm going to take a guess you are one of two things: a stupid teen or a guy well over 50. Anyone who thinks Pixar makes inferior movies is simply insecure. Yes it's animated, but animation is often a superior form of storytelling when you need a very liquid setting. I can't think of a more liquid setting than within the human mind.

While I have yet to see Foxcatcher, I'd say Wall-e, Up, the Incredibles, and the Toy Story franchise are all better films than the ones you listed. You are the one coming off as dumb in this thread.

Up and WALL-E are 2 of the best movies i have ever seen, regardless of genre or intended audience

There will never be a 100% on the T-Meter from a major blockbuster again, because some douchebags who merely want their view count on their website to go up will give it a bad review regardless of how they actually felt about it.

This movie seems right up Pixars alley and personally I cant wait. They do such a good job telling a story by using the format of animation to expand reality.. They know its animation and arent afraid to use it to their advantage, all without going past boundaries that make the stories unbelievable.

There was some old black film reviewer who would always go against the grain and sometimes be the one review keeping something from 100%. I seem to recall RT finally stopped including his reviews because he was basically just a troll.

You can't use an average animated movie and compare it to the year's best. Toy Story was better than Braveheart which won Best Picture the same year IMO.

Pixar doesn't even necessarily write for kids.
