That was probably the best along with the 15 million credits one.

The Black Mirror series is harder than any movie out right now.

I was going to mention that TV has a lot of great science fiction right now from BSG and Fringe, to what I hear are great in Orphan Black and Black Mirror.

I guess the idea comes across as pretentious to them. It's just complete fricking masturbation.

A lot of people are resistant to the idea that Star Wars isn't really science fiction. I guess the idea comes across as pretentious to them. It's just a more nuanced definition.

The problem with Star Wars is that its a cultural phenomena, but that makes categorizing it far more important. It isn't a poster child for science fiction. Nor should it be. That makes the term science fiction meaningless if it were considered that.

nterstellar, Prestige, Moon, Sunshine, Ex Machina (haven't seen this yet), Primer, Upstream Color, Her, Looper, Under the Skin, Children of Men, Dredd (ok maybe not 'hard' sci fi), Pandorum (not as bad as people think), TImecrimes, Outlander, Edge of Tomorrow, Oblivion, New Apes Movies, Snowpiercer, Source Code, Europa Report...

Iron Man comics is still pretty much hard sci-fi..

there is more scifi now that ever in history, some people just need to complain.

Check out Coherence (2014). Not sure if it qualifies as "hard" scyfy but I found it to be heady and extremely thrilling.

Zowie said he intended to make more films set in that universe - but, here we are, 5 years later and :crickets:

Because people love to shite on anything different. Interstellar was a fantastic Scifi movie. People can't enjoy it because they're too busy pointing out every flaw and plot issue. IMHO, it's as close as anyone has ever come to something original since 2001.

See, I also love Star Trek TMP. Plenty of people hate the pacing, but to me it's the essence of Star Trek and a quality Scifi movie.

It's more treky than Khan. And I love Wrath of Khan.

To me, Star Trek is about exploration. "To boldly go..." Trek is at its best when it's doing that. TMP was about wonder, awe, fear of the unknown, a faceless nameless unstoppable foe. I enjoyed the first season of Enterprise for the same reasons.

That doesn't mean Khan or First Contact weren't fantastic movies.

Same here, Ive been looking for movies like Alien, Prometheus, predator, war of the worlds or independence day. I cant find anything else. Also, there are barely any time travel movies.

Okay, I just realized that this means The Motion Picture. I retract my comment. Carry on, then.
