It was only a matter of time.

PT Anderson is the number one director in the history of the world and is never pretentious, but always the awesomest. Anyone who says different is not awesome and has taste in movies that is not good.

I believe that we have agreed on a number of quality movies.

Movies that you love as do I.

So what does that say about your taste in movies, hmmm

I think Lewis did a fabulous job. He deserved his Oscar. I just didn't care for the film itself.

Thought it was overrated. Not anything close to a movie buff, but while DDL was great as always the story was just boring to me.

It says that your one movie short of having as good a taste in movies as I am.

Hard to argue that Lewis didn't earn his oscar. I understand why people may not like this movie, but I love it and am a huge PT Anderson fan (a fact that I'm sure I've driven into the dirt on this board). I just wanted to put some ridiculous pro-PT Anderson quote up before all the bashing began.

Yes, I've seen Magnolia at least once a year since it came out. It's is in my top 5. I was jumping in and beating all the "PT Anderson films are overrated and pretentious" replies to the punch. I will vehemently defend PT forever, but yes, I do understand why people don't like his films. BTW the word pretentious gets thrown around on here way too much. I think we need to sticky a thread that contains a definition of pretentious that we can all agree on, and use it only as that definition allows.
