If you like Westerns, give Deadwood a try. It was only on for three seasons, but it is a great show that is highly acclaimed. Ian McShane's performance as Al Swearengen in particular is a big part of what made this show great, his character was definitely an interesting one, if there was a Western version of Tony Soprano, he was it.

If Im not into fantasy at all, and in fact somewhat despise it, will I still enjoy Game of Thrones. Is it Lord of the Rings type of stuff, which I hate, or is it legitimate action/drama with good plots and good acting. Im more drawn towards stuff like crime dramas.

Personally, i'm not very into LOTR at all. Many people love it, but I think a lot of people agree with me.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't like Game of Thrones, so I imagine you would like it. It just has really interesting characters and plotlines. There's tons of tension/drama, plot twists, comedy, action, sex, etc.

It's a violent political thriller set against a fantasy backdrop. It is a grim universe where, as Charles Dance (who plays Twin Lannister on the show, but once played expert hitman Terry Benedict in the cult classic "The Last Action Hero") once put it: "In this world, the bad guys can win".

Not on HBO GO, but "The Life and Times of Tim" is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, persona

+1. It's hilarious. I think it came on after something else I was watching one night, and after watching one episode I was sold.

The Wire

I started Game of Thrones 4 days ago and have done almost nothing but watch it and am 4 episodes away from catching up on the entire series. The Wire was my favorite show of all time before I started GoT. Idk how you didn't like it, Hodor.
