Not a thread to bitch about VIII. It is what it is. Given where things are now how would you structure 9 to make it as badass as possible.

I believe there has to be a time jump of some kind.

Less or none of Rose.

A new fearsome threat to Kylo Ren that is not Rey and the resistance.

Hux secretly double crossing Kylo and working with the new threat

Rey discovers her parantage and they aren't meaningless bums.

Majestic Return Of Luke in the flesh somehow.

Just general ideas.

Do you use any of the rebels characters?

God Rian Johnson really fricked everything.

Lando saves the day with the illegitimate son he had with Leia after her and Han separated.

Yeah, I think it's time for Star Wars to introduce time travel since Johnson royally fricked up the entire universe.

This was basically the only thing I liked about VIII. why does everyone have to be connected to some older heritage? the force can randomly show itself in others. I also think it's a good counter point to Ben Solo being who he is.

Because there are almost no jedi left after Order 66 or whatever and Vader's purge.

It's not that it has to be. It's that this was set up in VII only to be completed destroyed in VIII. Her reaction to the light saber was fairly specific.

The only thing I can come up with is have some outside threat cause what's left of the Resistance and First Order to team up to defeat it. Then have both sides see the futility of this whole exercise of decades of galactic civil war and stay in their own separate territories.

A time jump won't solve the issues that Episode VIII left behind, at least not in just one movie.

No Rose

Kylo has an apprentice who teams up with His to betray him

The rebels do nothing but run till the end of the movie and try and exploit the division in the Imperial ranks

Kylo kills everyone and reigns as emperor. Bad guys win

Alternate plan, it starts out with Rey waking up in the midst of her Jedi training from a terrible dream that the resistance had been reduced to a handful of people aboard the millenium falcon.

Build a Death Star and destroy the Star Wars franchise.

first, I would have Disney buy up the DC properties. Then I would introduce The Flash and conjure up some sort of Flashpoint storyline where the prequels and episode XIII never happened. Then have someone who understands the characters create a DCU from scratch.

Boom, both properties fixed.

I'd have JJ do to Rian what Rian did to him and completely ignore the story he tried to tell.

I wonder if you introduce an outside threat to the entire galaxy, such as the Yuuzhan Vong.

This could be seen as a threat the Empire probably could have handled, but the galaxy is in such disarray that there's no real strength left to contest them. It would force Ren and Rey to join, to resist the outside threat.

At the end of the day, they should have pulled out all the stops and not made it without getting Harrison Ford at least through the second one in the sequel trilogy.

They should have made when the three leads were younger instead of the prequel trilogy. And the focus should have been on Thrawn (Star Wars SJW race angle), the rebuilding of the Jedi Academy, and if they had to do a superweapon, it should have been one of the other ones introduced in the EU. They should have taken the best aspects of the EU. Instead we got a planet full of rich people who bet on horse races.

Look at the Marvel Universe, they took all the good stuff from the years of comics and then threw out the garbage.

With what was given to us, I really have no idea how to structure the sequel. Rey's arc as far as I'm concerned is effectively over. I don't see how either the First Order or the Resistance is a threat to anyone or anything anymore since they seemingly wiped each other out. Carrie Fisher is dead, so that's out. Maybe Rose builds her communist utopia... Nothing matters anymore as the film says overtly and was simply a memorial to nihilism and virtue signaling.

I really don't envy JJ Abrams having to clean up this narrative clusterfrick. They should just reshoot the damn thing.

How about this... Rey has trained up 12 padawans... Like the disciples of christ. One of them betrays her and nearly kills her but Luke intervenes. Kylo also faces subversion from within Ala Julius ceaser.
