Without a doubt:

The Lion King
Aladdin
Beauty and the Beast
The Little Mermaid (might be one of my least favorite Disney flicks)

I think Ariel is more of a dumb, naive, spoiled girl who follows her idiotic impulses no matter the cost.

1. She is that way because of her father never letting her experience anything.

2. She wanted to know what it was like to be human long before meeting Eric so it wasn't like that whole idea came up just because of the man.

It also is a good lesson in what can happen if you "make a deal with the devil" and addresses the timeless ever important difficult to grasp fact that the grass isn't always necessarily greener.

I thought that Ariel's faustian bargain with Ursula was one of the darker events in Disney animation

Wonderful musical numbers for the most part, but yes, the score is, lame and forgettable.
Guess who didn't write it?

I'll turn him into a flea, a harmless little flea. Then, I'll put that flea in a box! I'll put that box inside of another box! I'll mail that box to me, and when it arrives, I'LL SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!!! Or, I could just kill him with this poison...

Emperor's New Groove is solid. Krunk is an all time great ancillary character.

I didn't.
You didn't.
Walt Disney didn't.

This could take a while. Or do you mean the Sherman brothers?

Freaux has already sold Black Cauldron, which has one of the best scary sequences in a Disney films. The creatures which come out of the cauldron are truly terrifying to a little kid. I loved the Lloyd Alexander books as a kid, so I was an easy sell on this one. It's got some flaws, but it is a solid film.

Let me briefly defend Pocohantas, since I know no one else will. It's not a pantheon film, but it is remarkably true to the Pocohantas myth. It's historically inaccurate, but it actually does hue pretty close to the folklore. So I don't see the problem. People get all pissy about there being a Gaia-figure represented by the tree, but it's not really a reach for a film about Native Americans to, you know, promote the spiritualism of the forest. People need to let go of their politics sometimes. I actually think it has some of the strongest leads in modern Disney, but the songs and the villain are pretty forgettable. But it's a very pretty movie. Turn the sound down and enjoy the animation.

I want to clarify that politics or historical accuracy did not have any influence on my "turd" opinion. It is visually impressive. That's pretty much where the positives end.

Alan Menken didn't do the music for Lion King. He did for LM, Aladdin, B&tB, Pochahantas and Hercules.

Correct. I was just pointing out the missing element of Lion King that all those other classics had.

The Lion King musical was insufferable. The opening scene is incredible, then it is 3 hours of African booty dancing.

As in watching it right now? Or just the constant devotion some of us show to it?
