How bad is Dark Tower going to be?

No ratings on rotten tomato yet and it starts this Friday...That can't be good. I'm guessing it could be the worst King adaptation yet, besides Maximum Overdrive.

The movie probably won't be a bad movie. The trailers look kind of cool, Elba is a good actor, so is Matthew LastName, but it's not THE dark tower movie. It's A dark tower movie. It's some alternative universe diversity bullshite world they created.
It's a slap in the face to the book fans in every way. But the production of the movie looks like they pit some effort into it.

Breesus, every time I read one of your posts I just shake my head.
It's not alternate reality. It's a sequel which is a brilliant move. It's also not PC or sjw. Idris fricking Elba is the man.
I do think it is going to underperform though and there will not be further films.
I wish it would have been a television program like GOT

I really really hope they open the movie with a meta joke about decades wandering the desert causing a horrible sunburn. Roland Deschain isn't black.
If they made To Kill a Mockingbird but they had Daniel Day Lewis play Tom Robinson, wouldn't you be confused? He's a great actor, but it's a bizarre choice for an iconic black character.
Or if they made a sequel to To Kill A Mockingbird and all of Tom's family was white and in flashbacks, he was also white. It doesn't make sense.

Amen to this. I wish HBO would do series called King's Stories. Every season would be a different book adaptation.

Yes, but I thought that plot point was dumb in the books and am glad that it won't be in the movie.
