This. Seems like every couple of episodes they comment on how the American people don't know what they need.

Just got finished with the season. That ending was really stupid. If this show becomes about Claire entirely, I'm done. I'm also sick of the husband and wife back and forth can't trust each other shite.

I just finished it as well, and I think I agree. I really wish they'd wrap it up. I want to see the Underwoods get their comeuppance once and for all. BUT at the pace the show moves, it could go for 20 more seasons before that happens.

I also didn't enjoy the Conways just going away completely.

An aside: I think Usher is a great character. He stole every scene he was in.

ETA: typo

To be honest, I frickin love this show and knight for it like crazy outside of S3,...but I'm struggling to get past Episode 5-6. Claire is the WORST and they have stretched this election out insanely long. I hate Yates and his entire storyline.

They've seemingly taken everything they fricked up with Season 3 and repeated it.

i get that but the president resigned, his CoS admitted to committing a murder, his wife became President, her CoS was fired after a day, and then she got killed. all within like 24 hours.

people would be FREAKING out. and even if the Underwoods don't care about public opinion, members of congress would.

100% Agree
Yates story line was just awful

Doug Stamper is almost too loyal but I enjoy his character

Season 3 is still the worst but this one came mighty close to topping it.
I won't be able to watch season 6 with Claire as the main character

This season sucked as bad as season 3 but it was still better than crappy shows like The Walking Dead or The Blacklist.

Absolutely. He was my favorite part of seasons 5.

No doubt, but the fact that they don't include a whole lot of public opinion is used to illustrate just how little the public matters to them. It's like it doesn't enter into any conversation they have,or any decision they make because despite their positions as people elected to best serve the public they only care about themselves. The absence of that is part of character development.

A few thoughts after finishing season 5 (spoilers, obviously):

1. I have no real desire to watch this show anymore. If the next season is the last, I will watch it just to see Claire's well deserved fall. If they plan to have multiple more seasons, I don't think I'm going to bother unless the reception is far better. I'm okay waiting a few days to see if it's worth continuing next time.
2. Does the show we're buying Claire? Her presidency is laughable in every sense. Everyone hated the idea of her as ambassador, and now we're supposed to buy her as President?
3. Enough focusing on the personal lives of characters we don't care about. Especially since you're just going to go ahead and kill them all, anyways.
4. What a stupid plan it was to push Cathy down the stairs. It worked out because the show needed it to, and that's it.
5. The show ended us about to go to war. Based on the fact that the current Commander-in-chief is completely unfit for the job, will undoubtedly be facing crisis after crisis on the home front, and doesn't give a frick about the country, I almost expect this to end with Russian and Chinese troops marching to Washington.
6. I'm trying to think what would be the most satisfying way to see Claire fall. I think I would enjoy seeing Claire continue to manipulate people and cling to power at the expense of the country, only to see her lose the next election 538-0.

Yeah, I thought that to. Let's hope we can avoid wars for a while.

1-5 I couldn't have written better!

And 6....

I hate Claire. As the story has grown to include more and more of her it has become less enjoyable. It's hard to pick a fitting end for her. I'd say death but I'd rather her end up out of power in any way and alone. Not alone by choice but because she is so toxic that no one will risk associating with her.

This show affirms why we should never have a female president

frick Claire. She was running a middling non profit like 3 years ago. I know they wrote this prior to Hillary failure but Claire is going to die. Frank will be sure. And good for him.

It's amazing that like a few month before this she was getting her arse handed to her on foreign diplomacy and almost started a war with Russia, until she resigned in disgrace

Now all of a sudden the entire country wants her as president because "girlz rule"

At least she's better looking on the eyes in season 5. Longer hair = less femnazi

I don't like Claire, but I think Frank trying to sabotage her from the outside could be interesting

Did anyone notice in episode 4 with Frank and Claire going up the staircase in the WH and again in episode 5 when it's Doug and Frank there's a portrait of Stonewall Jackson on the wall? Kinda odd.
