edit- well i'll be damned, upon searching for the image of the book i found an article that says TNT recently announced an 8 part miniseries adaptation of the alienist at $5 million per episode

Dean Koontz

His novels have a pretty bad track record as movies though. Think Phantoms was his best one made into a movie and I don't really remember it being that great
