Allen Rickman did a fine job playing Rasputin.

The entire War of the Three Kingdoms would be pretty damn epic

Red Cliff was really good and apparently the directors cut is way longer with a ton more detail. Like 6 hours long instead of 3 and a half.

ETA: you can watch the theatrical version on Netflix.

Love this President.

Brian Keith played a great President "Teddy" Roosevelt in The Wind & the Lion (1975).

this movie was actually pretty good...i think people expect more of him than there really was...he was really just an attention whore who said, wrote and did whatever it took to get the attention he wanted...he would have fit into early 21st century tabloids perfectly.

Herschel Walker. You could get more bang for your buck with 8 movies in 1.

1939 movie w/ Richard Dix

1956 movie with Joel McCrea

1986 TV movie w/ Sam Elliot

There was a 1970s TV movie about the elder Houston refusing to go along with secession, starring Robert Stack. I saw it when I was like 8; I wish I could see it again.

I've read an interesting novel called IIRC Magnificent Destiny, about Houston and Jackson. It was written by Paul Wellman, who wrote a number of books about American History that are worth reading. Some were filmed: The Iron Mistress w/ Alan Ladd as Jim Bowie, The Comancheros with John Wayne; Jubal, a western reworking of Othello (!) with Glenn Ford as Cassio and Rod Steiger as Iago.
