and it had nothing to do with seeing San Andreas.

Man the service has gotten really really bad.
I know they take 20% regardless, but last night was the worst I got from there.
First, we are there early to order food. Decided to try the $9 bacon and chocolate potpourri popcorn, the $16 chef's plate and a couple of cocktails at $11 and $12. Asked that it come out after the plate and drinks. Of course it came out first. It was popcorn with giant chunks of bacon flavored dark chocolate, okay, but wouldn't get again. Our plate came out ten minutes later as the movie was starting. Still no drinks.. Our cocktails came about ten minutes after that. Had that casino watered down taste. Also, not really liking the popcorn we ordered a regular.
It never came, so thirty minute later pressed the button and told the guy we never got our popcorn. He said he would rush it out. Another ten minutes pass, popcorn comes out, rather than hand it to us, he proceeds to push both of our drinks into my lap.

After accepting apology I ask for him to remake my $12 cocktail. He brings me a water while I'm waiting. Cocktail comes out just before credits start to roll.

$110 for that? At least the movie was a decent popcorn flick.
I think I'll stick to the multiplex for now and getting my own food.

So there is a movie theater where they bring you food and drink to your seat? That doesn't disrupt the movie experience to have waiters coming in and out?

it does, that's another issue entirely and one that comes with the territory.

Most of them in Houston do this and it's great. Canal Place is very pricey but service is normally great and you don't have to deal with the poors.

Were you in VIP or regular?

I know you can't always get it, but I only go if I can sit in the VIP theater. It's like $2 more and has always been a good experience for me at least.

I've been about 10+ times and have never had trouble with service. Last few times I went haven't been at their peak times. Went there for lunch/movie last few times.

I'm always sceptical of places that offer tiered services. It's like they're saying, "Hey, this might suck for most customers, but for just a few dollars more..."

VIP only had Ultron, I already seen that.

Our only choices really were San Andreas and Pitch Perfect 2.

Usually it's great service.
Last night was bad, and having wet pants wasn't what made it bad, it was the long waits for pop corn and drinks. I can see waiting 10-15 minutes, but some waits were just crazy.
I don't mind the 20% added either. Plus a couple of our favorites were gone from the menu. I don't really need to drink in a movie, just the idea of better snacks and a cocktail is a nice one. Generally a date night to the movies with drinks and snacks is about $50, so $50 more for food isn't bad.. It's just I don't know the experience wasn't the same as it had been. (haven't been in six months.)

Never been to a place like that. What's the set-up? Folding trays on the seats? Separate chairs so waiters can get you without sliding down a row? Tables?

I've always been perfectly content with my independent movie theaters that serve beer on tap.

extra wide aisles. You can stretch out and not come close to the seat in front of you.
You have a swing out mini table.
Waiters till get in the way.

I think Movie Pitchers in NOLA was the best. You ordered your food or drinks then they brought them to you.

If everyone listened and ordered before the movie, it would of been better, but so many late arrivals, that they had waiters all over twenty minutes into the movie.

It is more distracting than a regular theaters.

Okay, thanks. I have the image now. Inevitable distractions aside, it actually sounds pretty cool. It's like first class on an airplane, except, well, on the ground inside a movie theater.

They have quite a few of these in my area and they are ok but I only go for certain types of movies...nothing too serious or too diologue intensive...concept works for comedies or simple action films.

That's huge money for what u got? You sure you got billed correctly? Houston has AMC's that are no pricier than a regular resturant. Smuggle in some Taco Hell in your girl's bag, man. #corporategreedsux
