Latino Review, somehow gets scoop on this type of movie stuff, take it for what it's worth. They were fairly on target with all the EpVII TFA leaks, et al

Green Lantern Corps to include Jordan, Stewart & Rayner
quote:

The Green Lantern Corps movie in 2020 won't just feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart--the two most popular Green Lanterns--but also Kyle Rayner was name-dropped as a third Green Lantern from Earth to appear in the film. Another big takeaway is the age of these Lanterns, namely Hal Jordan. who the studio wants to be in the age range of, say, Matt Damon. The other two will be younger.

also of note:

quote:

Justice League for Zack Snyder's two-part movie event in 2017 and 2019. The Flash, Aquaman and Shazam! will all get solo movies in-between the two parts, then Cyborg and the Green Lantern Corps have movies slated for a 2020 release.

quote:

Hal Jordan does not appear in BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Presumably Jordan would need to be cast in time for Zack Snyder to shoot his Justice League movies

Typical over correction. I mean this is fun news, good news even, but balls to the wall dropping a bunch of human GL's all in one film right out of the gate. Doesn't paint a picture of confidence.

wondering if they took a page out of Ant Man's book? Just in the sense of passing the torch as a significant part of the story, instead of a full on origin

Quite possibly, and I'd be ok with it with the right kid of actors. But Moving on from Hal Jordan quickly.....not sure it's the best move as he is one of DC's very best characters.

Not only that, we're back to the weird consideration of Superman as the first superhero in MoS....but wait Batman and Wonder Woman were always there...and now Hal too!

neither was going up against a Zod that wrecks Metropolis in movie 1, or adapting chunks of Death/Return of Superman and Dark Knight Returns in movie 2, or giving the keys to the DCEU to an a-hole who wants everything to be like Watchmen.

I immediately get a frowny face that just won't go away for a while when I think of that talentless shitty one trick hack having the keys to the entire DC comics universe.

If we were going to get rid of Snyder, BvS needed to make exactly 800 million or less for DC to get the message to justify it.

And look...Affleck was one of the few shining parts of BvS...but I've always hated the idea of starting the DCEU with an older Batman because it puts a VERY loud ticking clock on how many movies you can get with the actor. And what's their next move...bring in Matt Damon who will be 50 when the GL movie comes out in 2020?

So...we'll have a Goodwill Hunting Reunion in the DCEU, but both guys will be in their 50's...

I mean...

would prefer MBJ over Elba.

Elba sounded a little too elitist for my taste last time I read him talking about playing Heimdall. Perhaps I misread him but he came off as if he feels he is above playing comic characters.

Green Lanterns being around prior to Superman is straight out of the comics. Tomar-Re's biggest failure turned out to be Earth's greatest gift (he was tasked with preventing Krypton from being destroyed).

A Damon aged Hal wouldn't be the worst thing ever. An older Hal differentiates the character from the previous film and gives a real generation gap between Hal and Kyle. Damon as Hal, a thirtysomething old actor as John, and a young actor as Kyle... that makes for a great assortment of ages (instead of everyone being 20 to 30).

I'm looking forward to who they get to direct this thing.

Affleck is the same age as RDJ was when Iron Man was made...

But Affleck's portrayal of Batman is of an older, coming out of retirement hero.

RDJ was the beginning of Iron Man, not the end.

idiot question:

so is Ryan Reynolds no longer Green Lantern since he's now Deadpool? Or will he be both?

I will never understand why the studios thought it would just be "ok" to cast an actor in 2 different super hero roles.

I hope a Superman sequel announcement will soon follow.

Although, I'm not sure what direction they'll go in considering Clark Kent is dead...

Not seeing the point here. RDJ has done a ton of films as Iron Man, not sure why Affleck can't do the same (plus he has the benefit of not having advanced aging due to drug abuse).

Did they say anything in BvS about Batman coming out of retirement? Every reference that I remember has him changing after Superman appears... as in he never stopped being Batman.
