I'm convinced that they're being super vague with Robert's Rebellion because there's only so much time to flesh it out and I think they're planning on covering it in a movie/mini series or something along those lines. That's just my guess.
It's one of the few things I've been disappointed in with D&D. It's such interesting content to cover.

I really hope after the show's done they do a 12 episode mini-series on Robert's Rebellion. I think Robert's Rebellion would take more than 10 episodes (think the Sack of King's Landing would at least take 2), but I don't think they could stretch it out to 20. 12 seems about perfect.
As for my ideal casting for the main players:
Ned Stark- James Mcavoy
Robert Baratheon- Henry Cavill
Rhaegar Targaryen- Bradley James
Lyanna Stark- Sarah Bolger
Brandon Stark- Chris Hemsworth
Jon Arryn- Liam Neeson
Jaime Lannister- Lucas Till
Aerys Targaryen- Bill Nighy
Arthur Dayne- Santiago Cabrera
Rhaella Targaryen- Cate Blanchett
Jon Connington- Domhnall Gleeson
Tywin Lannister- Michael Fassbender
Stannis Baratheon- Garrett Hedlund
Elia Martell- Frieda Pinto
Howland Reed- Sam Claflin

What happened to Aegon's Dragons?

Robert was definitely one of my favorite characters in the series. He was so real and likable yet detestable at the same time.

Technically Aegon only had one dragon, the biggest baddest of all time. The 3 conquering dragons just died eventually after they took Westeros iirc.

Balerion(The Black Dread) died when he was 200 years old (and about 200 years before the start of the show)

Not only is it interesting, but it is basically essential to understand that current state of affairs on the show. I guarantee you that when Kosmo gets caught up on RR and the rest of the history, and then goes back and rewatches the first couple of seasons, he's going to be shocked at how much more layered and interwoven the storylines actually are. It'll almost be a completely different story for him.

There was actually more than the 3 original dragons that Aegon brought with him to Westeros. The Targaryens were able to "breed" them once they conquered Westeros. But they all eventually died out after a civil war between the Targaryens in which most of the dragons were killed.

Cersei after Bobby B pimp slaps her: " I shall wear this like a badge of honor"
Bobby B: "Wear it in silence, or I'll honor you again."

Did the weird Lannister nephew that is now a religious zealot, very Robert drunk which caused his death?
What was he trying to say when he was talking to Cersei last episode?

Aegon rode Balerion and like others have said, he died of old age like a boss.
Vhagar, ridden by Visenya (sister-wife of Aegon), died at the age of 181 in the Dance over Harrenhal.
Meraxes, ridden by Rhaenys (another sister-wife of Aegon), died in the First Dornish War (not sure of age).

One of the biggest revelations I got from the history and lore DVD extras was that Dragon Stone has an insane amount DragonGlass
Dragon glass is White Walker fly swatter basically so whoever holds dragon stone by the time winter really comes, will have the key to defeating the Walkers
Also makes it a bit ironic that Stannis left dragon stone to fight the white walkers whenever he had the key to beating them in his home town
Samwell tarly needs to speak the hell up

The Mannis' teeth are made of dragonglass, he grinds them so he can defeat the white walkers with his hands tied behind his back.
grinding intesifies

Hell, I just realized that there are animated shorts for all 4 seasons. I have just watched the 1+ hour long shorts from season 1. I guess I know what I'll be tied up doing for the next week (even though I probably know most of it already).
