I don't remember, does anyone super important (not Davos's sons) die at Blackwater? It's been awhile since I've read it.

Also, I wonder if they'll have a Renly look alike in the show tonight

the last couple episodes have almost killed my enthusiasm for the show, and I hate it bc I've been following the production for years. Really really hoping this one will get it back on track.

I think they'll probably kill off Meryn Trant instead of Mandon Moore tonight.

I wonder if they will introduce Tyrion's chain?

Me too. Unlike some others, I've thought this season despite the changes has been pretty good and can't wait to see it reach it's pinnacle in these last two episodes.

I'm really excited about it.

Pod got introduced last week during the Cersei/Tyrion scene.

Unfortunately there isn't going to be one. The showrunners said they really tried to make the chain work, but they were having major issues filming it, so they decided to make better use of their budget in other areas.

So that would be why it hasn't been mentioned. So now I'm curious about what Tyrion is planning with pigshit.

In the scene at the Alchemist's Guild, Bronn mentions that there are always hustlers trying to sell pigshit as wildfire.

So far, I have to admit this season has disappointed me. I understand leaving things out, and adding things in to make it more streamlined and cost efficient, but they removed things that would not have been hard to film, and added things that really didn't need to be there. And now your telling me there's no chain. WTF. So the substance will do all the work. I guess Tyrion's gonna get knocked out a minute into the fight and will wake up with a small scar on the bridge of his nose. Podrick won't do shite, because they have barely even managed to introduce him, much less establish his timidness. If they don't show the Hound see the flames and run like hell, then I don't know. I'll be left waiting for the red wedding, in hopes they get it right, and don't have Robb and Cat simply eat poison or some shite.

they also need to give his and Sansa's scene justice. If GRRM hadn't written it, I wouldn't be expecting much, but I don't expect him to make meaningless changes unlike w/ some past episodes

Pod was first intro'd in the scene when Tyrion banished Slynt and shown for a split second.

Jesus some people are just miserable when it comes to wanting to see everything be exactly the way it was in the books. The chain is not an important plot device at all. Pod is not an important character. Are they both interesting and enjoyable to read about? Yes. Is it easy to see why, due to budget and time constraints, the show runners would choose not to do them? Yes. It is impossible to make a literal page-by-page book to movie adaptation on something as detailed as ASOIAF. Get used to that fact or you might as well stop watching now bc this sort of stuff will keep happening

While I agree wholeheartedly at this point you have some posters whose opinion (as in unhappiness with the translation) isn't going to change. And vice versa. We've discussed this quite a bit in previous threads so it's probably best to just let it be to avoid hijacking the thread.

Re: Pod

I think there's been enough subtle mention of him and his timid behavior (see Tyrion's comments when we see him last episode) that he's still going to save Tyrion. Remember we're not seeing this from a POV perspective so you're not going to have those internal, comments/detailing about him. We'll see.

It was (along with the substance) the main reason Stannis lost the battle and went North for the wall. It proved how cunning and clever Tyrion was. His not getting any love from the people for it furthered his disenchantment with the city and it's people.

I think it was in the books but not so much in the show the way it's been set up with him suggesting the "pig shite" in his tactical plans.
