Also, the whole point of the movie is to text God's Not Dead to everyone you know. This was unnecessary.

Not the whole point of the movie...I did think it was silly but I did get a text from my 12 yr old nephew after he saw it.

I probably won't see the movie in a theater but will give it a watch down the line. I listened to Kevin Sorbo a couple of nights talking about how much his career has been marginalized by having convictions that differ from most of Hollywood. Got to be difficult working in such an environment.

I have no religious affiliation but believe in a creator and have always admired people who hold true to their convictions.

Hope the film does well, besides, atheists have replaced gays as the whiniest little bitches around.

I doubt I'd ever watch a movie with that title... Understandably

so brave to stand with 80+% of the population. Christians are so persecuted in today's society

says the one whining. While there are some very annoying and unreasonable atheists, there voices are drowned out by the millions upon millions of annoying Christians who flood social media with Gods Not Dead topics and non-existent persecution

this with Noah, Son of Man

You can scratch Noah from that list. I had to spend an hour after the movie explaining to my kids what was wrong with the movie. Definitely a very "liberal" approach to telling a Bible story.

Please stop using the political tense of conservative and liberal in conjunction with religion.

The only politcal definition that exist for each is

Liberal - a liberal interpretation of the Constitution
Conservative - a Conservative interpretation of the Constitution

It has nothing to do with religion. It has nothing to do with the Bible.

There are neo-conservative and neo-liberal Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc....

As for all the across the fence bickering.

Who gives shite what anyone believes?

I was born and raised Catholic, went to Catholic schools my whole life. I haven't been to church in 10 years. I hope there is a God, but I don't need a book, or a group of easily influenced people to convince me there is or isn't. That's for me to decide on my own.

Moreover, if I wake up every day and try to be a better person than I was yesterday, then that should be good enough.

Well since the Noah story as written in the bible is AT BEST inspired by true events, a massive flood in the Black Sea region thousands of years before genesis was even written, and more likely just a fable about creation/God rewards the just, please enlighten us as to what was wrong with this fictional movie.

I assume you've also taken issue every other movie ever made with some sort of slight basis in history/mythology

That's not really true. You may not understand the term as it relates to religion, but it is commonly used. I consider myself a very liberal Christian, though I am conservative politically.

I don't think you understand my point.

By most people's free use of the terms they would hear this

quote:

I am conservative politically

and consider you a neo-christian evangilist, when in fact you are more complex than that.

I'm tired of being type cast into certain sub cultures because of my political conservatism.

News flash: it's possible/and highly probable to be both conservative and liberal in all aspects of life.

ETA: this is off on a tangent and should get back on point to the M/TV board topic

Fair enough.

As to the purpose of the thread: the movie looks terrible.

Jesus does shitty movies. I mean he is the son of God. He can't get anyone better than Kirk Cameron to do his movies?

I have no strong opinion about current Christian cinema. I just don't care all that much.

The only time I start to care is when fellow Christians try to either rope or guilt me into seeing these movies.

When did everyone start trying to be a victim in this country? Christians, blacks, gays, cyclists, big business, small business, environmentalists, gays. Everyone is trying to be the downtrodden minority being oppressed by someone. But there's no one left to do the oppressing, we're all victims now. It's an annoying card to play, and it seems to work.

Just look at Duck Dynasty, nobody did anything to them but they're still a victim of something.
