I didn't know she was up for the part. That's the My Sister Sam murder.

Big news back then.

I've said this before but Godfather III is like turkey bacon. It's not horrible, but if you're expecting bacon, you'll be disappointed

It got nominated for best picture but wasn't nearly as good as Goodfellas much less the first two Godfathers.

Not paying Robert Duvall to be in the movie was a mistake, casting his daughter was an even bigger mistake.

i pretty much wished that they would have called that character someone else besides Tom. Make him some corporate lawyer or something .

Trivia: John Cazale appears in archival footage in GF III, which was nominated for Best Picture. Every film he ever appeared in held this distinction. The only actor ever that can say that.

The Godfather
GF II
The Conversation
Dog Day Afternoon
The Deer Hunter
GF III

All in the span of 6 years (except III)

One of the most underrated actors ever. But that's for another thread.

Is both an acceptable answer?

It's not the worst movie of all time but it's pretty bad and objectively complete shite compared to the other two.

I'm not going to lie - it's pretty bad. I watched it with no preconceived notions and - in fact - as much of a film guy as I am, I had forgotten the film existed and did not recall any specific positive or negative praise.

Now - is it the worst movie or sequel ever made? No. Pacino has some spots where he's believable as Michael. If you enjoy his work, it's worth the watch for that. If you temper your expectations, you will get a Godfather experience that isn't a disaster.

Part of it is the story. A good bit of it is the directing. Part of it is Sofia's acting (and the character is just bad, probably not all her fault). But, most of it is that it stands in the shadows of 2 fantastic films of the franchise.

I mean, it holds a 67% Rotten Tomatoes and grabbed Oscar and GG nominations for best picture - how bad can it be, objectively?

It's a good to great movie. It's just not one of the greatest films ever made (Which I and II arguably are).

You mean Francis Ford Coppola ruined the movie. He's the one that cast her. It's not her fault she sucks as an actress. Honestly, she's only one problem with the movie. The whole thing just didn't work in my opinion.

I'm usually against remakes, but I wouldn't be opposed to a remake of this one.

It wasn't "bad." That's stupid. Anyone saying that just wants to make some kind of a point. It was nominated for Best Picture.

It was not BAD.

It was actually a good movie that utterly pales in comparison to the first two. It tries to force in what happened in the first two movies while missing the genius of them. But, you need to see it. It completes the story. It is a good movie. Just not great and nowhere near as good as the first two.

It isn't bad.

The fact that she was banging her first cousin didn't help, either.

So, I admittedly have never seen the Godfather I or II.

A few years back I borrowed my brother's box set of the trilogy. Put in the first disc and started watching. Right off the bat I thought the footage looked a lot more recent than what I thought it should have, but I kind of shook it off. About an hour later I realized I'd yet to see any of the famous sences. Bored out of my mind it finally dawned on me that Al Pacino was a heck of a lot older looking than he should have been.

That whole time I had been watching the Godfather 3. My idiot brother had put the disc in the wrong spot, and I started watching the last one first without even realizing it. I felt so lost and was utterly bored with the movie. The whole time I kept hoping it would pick up since it was such a beloved work.

To this day, I have still not gone back and watched the first two.
