justin kroll from variety saying 400 million to break even
Posted on 7/19/16 at 3:44 pm to 1999
Brent Lang said $300 million to break even 2 days ago.
Box Office Mojo has it with about $64 million so far with 18-19 million foreign from UK, Australia, and Brazil.

For most comedies, that kind of debut would be a triumph, but then again, “Ghostbusters” isn’t most comedies. The film carries a massive $144 million price tag, plus at least $100 million more in marketing costs. Insiders estimate that it will have to do at least $300 million globally to break even and substantially more than that to justify a sequel. To get there, the film will have to show some impressive endurance while fending off a crowded field of summer blockbuster hopefuls. It will also need to resonate with foreign crowds unfamiliar with the original 1984 comedy or its 1989 sequel.

That is why you don't feed trolls. They just become bigger trolls.

Those assholes would still harass her no matter what. It's easy to say that she should ignore them when most haven't had this level of hate and racism thrown at them.

Yeah, but it's so much worse if you respond. That's why it's called "trolling."

I had no idea who Comic Book Girl was until you provided that link.
I think I'm in love with her.
I usually go for a pretty conservative look in my women, but dammit if I don't want her to have my babies.

That goes well beyond trolling. It's harassment.

I'm actually a little disappointed that she won't do a full review. Seems like she is slightly ducking the issue because she clearly didn't like it but won't give it a full hate blast review. Just mentioned it being somewhat meh.

Dude, there is a thread on the PT Board that has Jones stating that they were faking the racist tweets.

No shite. That's pretty slimy.

My understanding is that Rotten Tomatoes also gave Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls 77%. Let's all think about that for a bit.
Why do so many people not understand how Rotten Tomatoes works??

Yea not surprised. General rule of thumb is 2x or 2.5x production costs. And if they really did spend $100M on marketing then 400 makes total sense

A semi-decent cam is now up on the interwebs. I kept a log of my thoughts watching the first ~45 minutes.
"Anti-Irish fence" = chuckle.
Wigg doesn't give two fricks.
Pringles ad = cringe.
This movie is making Charles Dance boring.
Everyone has been talking about how good looking McKinnon is (she's solid), but Wigg looks better despite probably being ~10 years older.
Shrimp soup = light chuckle. That's noteworthy as it's the first since the first few minutes of the film.
Hemsworth just showed up and Wigg's acting got better. I'm not lying.
Fieg was blowing Hemsworth's "Michael Hatt" ad lib, and it was terrible.
I'm 40 minutes in and I'm REALLY struggling to continue watching.
Haven't laughed at Hemsworth once. He's supposed to be the funniest part.
Leslie Jones has been unfunny, but not the super stereotypical black woman that everyone expected. I think the people saying that she "stole the show" are using that as a backhanded compliment.
And then I stopped. I may or may not continue watching it tomorrow (depends on how much I drink most likely). I'm a big fan of Fieg's films over the last 5 or 6 years, but this is just a turd. Just awful. Seriously the worst film in recent memory, save for maybe Nymphomaniac.

It fell to 5th behind -
1. Star Trek
2. Pets
3. Lights Out
4. Ice Age
5. Ghostbusters
I wouldn't hold my breath for a sequel.

Watched it earlier tonight. When the mayor told them that he was going to have to make everyone think that they were frauds, my first thought was that he wouldn't have to try that hard. Very few laughs in a film that did nothing but make jokes. The pace was ok but the CGI was on par with Scooby doo. I went in not trying to see the male-hating part of it and didn't really notice it. It really was a film that wasn't horrible but yet wasn't even decent, closer to horrible actually. Hard to explain really. Leslie Jones was the worst part. She was overplaying the stereotypical black woman. The ending was also pretty lame. The first 20-30 minutes weren't that bad, but fell pretty flat the rest of the way.
Spoilers:::
Would have liked a back story on the villain, seemed very random. If he was that smart, why is he working at the hotel doing maintenance? Didn't make sense.
Where did they come up with the money for the rent and the new equipment? It showed them catch one ghost, and then all of a sudden they have new equipment and nuclear sh*t? That sh*t costs money and they didn't make it from the book, the college Abby worked at didn't even know she was still there and Wiigs character wasn't even tenured yet. At least the original made an effort to explain how they got money to start off.
The ending. Wow. Not a good wow. That tow cable must have had about 10 miles worth of cable, and holtzman and patty are part superhero to pull Abby and Wiig out as fast as they did. And then they throw in white hair for no apparent reason. They turned the stay puft marshmallow man into a Macy's Parade balloon, and tried to piggyback off of the original in letting the Ghostbusters pick the form that destroys them and they pick Oogie Boogie from the Nightmare Before Christmas? WTF was that?
In closing, it's not the worst movie ever made. It made me laugh 3 or 4 times in the whole movie. And those two are the only good things about this film.

b/c a is supposed to clue people in that you are serious or not?
you're the one that had been acting like since you hadn't seen ads that meant there was a light advertising campaign.
