The movie cost $144 million to make and they spent $30 million on promotion.
They actually spent 100 million promoting it.
To break even this movie needs to pull 244 million.
So far it is sitting at 61 world wide...and the next two weeks some big releases are coming down the pipe.

May be their most hated film since Jack and Jill. Just a pounding.
That was weirdly entertaining...either i'm just enjoying them rip the movie, or they're just entertaining dudes. 44 minutes .

If this is your first time watching them you should go back and watch some old reviews. They are pretty entertaining.

Well I've seen Mr. Plinkett reviews of the Star wars movies, more than once. I didn't know that was RedLettermedia.

Another one of their all time great reviews: Jack and Jill
Only person who I think can thoroughly rip a movie apart as well would be James Rolfe, and that's pretty much it.
And Mike is the voice of Plinkett BTW.

Yeah, I actually gathered that pretty quickly.

What he says at the end...

That was pretty great.
(love the beers)
God, it shows Sandler can get away with anything releasing crap like that...
What might have been if he tried for more than once or twice?
Punch Drunk Love?...but that was PTA
Sandler by himself is just a fat lazy getting a carte blanche check to hang out with his buddies and bill the studios.
(dude figured it all out) He basically retired after SNL. On Norms podcast he said he has never done stand-up since the early SNL days...he doesn't tour...he's rich...Norm and Spade tour.
But he's been getting a pass from his fans since Billy Madison.

Won't they make a lot from merchandising?
It is still the Ghostbusters name after all. And there's been enough publicity that some people will buy the toys.

He hasn't toured but he's put out comedy albums. Nick Swardson created the gay robot hanging out with Sandler and Sandler had him do it on his album

they'll make all their money back off Melissa McCarthy alone

I know it isn't just this movie, but take a step back and realize how ridiculous it is that they spend nearly as much to promote these things as it does to make them. Pretty unique product.

Tosh.0 line: Nine out of the top ten biggest movies with a female cast have "Gone Wild" in the title.

studios lie about these figures regularly. i'd bet it's even more. i am thinking at least 300 million to break even. unless this movie grows serious legs it is not going to be a success.

I think it drops hard this weekend. Also, it won't be playing in China so things look pretty bleak.

And I don't think it will make much from merchandising either. There will be s big disconnect from boys since the entire team is female and girls don't normally play with that stuff.

My biggest critique of the feminist agenda is when they push women into areas they just haven't wanted to go. ...a live action kick -arse movie probably doesn't appeal to most women. Just because women aren't represented, doesn't mean they've been purposely kept out despite a desire to be included in "masculine" roles.
Also, the matrix shite at the end of the movie? What the hell.
