Fantastic review.

I cannot wait for the How Did This Get Made segment on this show.

10 years from now they will have shows that start with "remember when they did that Ghosbuster chick movie and thought it was a good idea?"

It sounds like it confirms what they have been trying to shield the entire time - this is simply a bad movie

His review is a little off...and sounds like this is the first time he's ever seen Leslie Jones before...

Discussing Leslie Jones:

"Why did they cast the black woman to play the loud stereotypical black woman, 'oh hell no'..."

"I'm sure she could be really funny if they didn't make her the angry black woman."

Then he got to know Leslie Jones as the movie progressed, I guess...

"She was just annoying me almost the entire film."

I think he touched on a coupe of really important issues with the movie that contradict the whole "girl power" vibe of the reboot:

1.) The black female character is a caricature of the stereotypical angry black woman and it's not funny at all. So what was supposed to be the point in that writing and casting decision?

2.) Every male character in the movie, be it a minor or major character, is depicted as a total a-hole. Again, why? A few characters, sure people are dicks. But every male character top to bottom has to come off as stupid, ignorant, arrogant, and douchey? I get it, female characters are marginalized in a lot of movies so maybe the intent here was turnabout being fair play but if you're going to do that, prepare to isolate your male audience. You can have a female-led comedy with a mix of good and bad male characters (see Bridesmaids) and have it be a hit with both genders.

When he reveals the spoiler for the ending, I was kind of stuck between being surprised and not surprised at all. On the one hand, I was surprised the studio would be that blatant with the man-hating message while, on the other, pandering to what they think an audience wants is what Hollywood does. I think in this case they guessed horribly wrong.

For what it's worth, I didn't know who Leslie Jones was before this film.

Same here. I haven't watched SNL in years.

You're right.

And, the people who could sense it from just watching the trailer and knowing Hollywood's agenda felt the vibe.

He confirmed it when he said, "basically it's a man bashing film." And not pro women, just anti-men.

It will probably be a bad movie, but:

'They weren't in on the joke in the original'

Is he fricking serious?

That's not surprising. SNL is barley relevant anymore. Almost no one I know other than myself when watches it.

Yes he is.

In the original you were watching a group of people in a universe react to that universe. The humor and jokes came from situations and interactions between the characters. All of the characters in the original seemed like real people. And their reactions seemed genuine.

I'd bet this movie has alot or moments where the cast is clearly talking to the audience or acting so far out of character that the scene is unbelievable. Like their reactions and actions are so outlandish is basically cartoonishly stupid and not realistic. It's a crutch that's become very prevalent in shitty written comedies since 2000.

It's a fair criticism, and one people have been saying since the previews.

What's going to happen to this dude with the embargo?

Is he going to be sued or something?

He probably never signed an NDA form. Here's another review just out.

Wow, they shoot the big ghost at the end in the dick to kill him. This is worse than I thought.

I can't wait for the Half in the Bag review for this. Sounds like it could be the most trashed movie since "Jack and Jill".
