Yeah, its white people are evil instead, but the reviews are based on white guilt. I read a detailed synopsis. Not very impressive as a horror movie but works wonders to forward the narrative that white people prey on blacks.

This doesn't really work in terms of judging movies-- especially horror movies they're all about tone and direction and at times shock.

Psycho- Nutjob stabs blonde in the shower
Jaws- Shark eats people
etc.

A plot summary doesn't do much to differentiate Jaws and say Anaconda- they're both creature features about a larger version of a primal fear. Yet one is regarded as a legit classic and the other is a shitty J. Lo vehicle.

This is an excellent horror movie with good comic relief and well worth seeing.

You should research how the score is arrived at. The score isn't determined by a panel of Rotten Tomatoes board members that debate the film's worth. RT basically reads reviews of critics that

A. Are worth a shite and
B. Actually review the movie

Not to mention it's binary- "Is the movie Good or Bad" its not a qualitative ranking system.

Bottom line is this is a good movie. Very impressive directorial debut for Jordan Peele. He couldn't have picked a better cast. I look forward to seeing more from him.

All this race bullshite in this thread is dumb. If you enjoy horror/thriller movies then you'll enjoy this one.

Just got out. The movie was excellent and very relevant without being preachy. I highly recommend it.

I question it's positioning as a proper horror movie. To me, it's more along the lines of when they recut the Mary Poppins trailer as a psychological thriller, etc. You can induce horror elements into anything. That's what I think makes Peele's direction so remarkable in this case.

One of the greatest cinematic experiences that Ive ever had. So much fun. I went to the 11:15 pm showing and it was sold out, but luckily they did another show at 11:20. The show was a bout 3/4 full, and I was probably one of maybe 10 white people in the theater. It was fun, especially the third act.

It was actually a damn good movie. It was a Hitchcock movie with comedy. From the way the movie was shot, to the score, it was as if Alfred made the movie himself.

I absolutely loved it.

So, still 100%?

So, better than The Godfather, Saving Private Ryan, Good Will Hunting, Animal House, The Incredibles, and the 1984 Ghostbusters?

Sorry, while I have no doubt the movie is good and I do plan to see it, this smells like politically driven criticism to me.

No one's saying it's the greatest film of a time. Read up on how RT works. At the end of the day, all of the reviews have been positive. Inferring ulterior social justice motives to most critics in this case is a ridiculous stretch.

Ghostbusters 2016 finds this statement amusing.

I know how RT works and I agree that if a movie got 3/5 stars for 100% of its reviews, it would get a perfect score. However, it still begs the question of how all of the movies I listed, somehow, found some negative reviews, yet this one does not.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I didn't think it was a big deal at all.

I thought I'd be getting some kind of truly clever subtext or commentary about race whilst intertwined into a horror movie, but that was not the case.

I'm sorry, but you've got to come up with better dialogue than one of the party guests asking the girlfriend "Is it better?" Wow, we've all never heard that old wives' tale before!

The best friend was a total cliche', the writing had so many f-bombs...to me, that just doesn't make for anything compelling. I was thinking there would be more laughs as well.

I will say that it did a good job with providing some really weird characters who weren't on screen too much - the brother, the gardener, the missing guy, etc. But there wasn't anything interesting or likeable about the 2 people who are on screen for most of the movie.

Pretty much, I thought I wasted my time.
