In his live journal, Martin explained that he initially thought that he would be able to finish the book on time, but he ended up disappointed in his failure to meet his 2015 timeline. However, he assured his fans that he will do his best to craft the story in the best way possible and he estimates the release to be three months after he finishes the manuscript, Vine Report says.
Martin is not getting any younger, and there may be times when he gets things mixed up. Rumor has it that the "The Winds of Winter" author may need a co-author because of the complication of the story, according to the Parent Herald.
Local outlets in New Mexico, U.S. have reported about the possibility of "The Sandman" and "Good Omens Bad Omens" author Neil Gaiman co-authoring "The Winds of Winter." The rumors were fanned all the more when the writer was spotted in the same area in New Mexico where Martin lives in, the report relays.
If the rumors prove to be true, then Gaiman's participation in "The Winds of Winter" will make the book even more fascinating. It will also increase the possibility of the book being released in 2017.

Maybe if the old bastard didn't spread himself so unbelievably thin with about a hundred side rejects it'd be a little easier for him.

I really don't like Gaiman.

He's never gonna finish it

No way.
Gaiman?! I'm going with "no way".

I'm thinking the same, but it is a fact that he has been at Martin's house in Santa Fe a lot recently and has even been seen at the movie theater that Martin bought and refurbished in Santa Fe.
Eta: Of course he could just be author-buddy couch surfing his way across America for research for American Gods 2.

I for one enjoyed the encyclopedia on black bread recipe variations. The first edition though was better than the second.

I heard that he has also contacted Dan Brown.

That should've been done 10 years ago .

Why is this being reported by a Christian news site? Are these books not frowned upon by Christians?
Does he do epic/high fantasy? I don't much keep up with his works.
