We have accounts of dragon glass (obsidian) in Westeros thousands of years before dragons.
Not the steel, though. We'll see, but I'm still willing to wager that dragon fire works.

It's maaaaaagic!

Agreed.

Actually the character I miss the most, in a weird way, is Tywin.

Howland Reed has yet to swoop in and make an appearance, and he's currently the only person alive who knows about Jon's parents, so I'm sure it will be huge when he finally arrives, that is, if he's not secretly the High Sparrow

When we see HR for the first time in the TOJ flashback and the next scene is the High Sparrow that theory will pick up major steam

Yeah, I really began to give some credence to that theory when Olenna called the HS "little man" in S5.

Still, it's likely that he'd have to have been a lifelong septon to have been chosen by all of the others to be the HS. It's still possible though.

I think we've watched all those youtube theories before and I do like this one.

People shoot it down because all of the differences in the religions, but since we know so little about him it's definitely plausible.

I guess GRRM was really vague about big time characters like HR and the WW so he would have flexibility down the line.

I thought the crannogmen worshipped the old gods. For Reed to work his way up to being chosen high septon by all of the septons would be a huge undertaking.

More of me thinks that the HS will become a religious tyrant, especially given the politics of the show runners. But, he's a bit like the lefty Pope that they all love (even looks like him), so who knows?

I think it will become increasingly obvious that the HS is using his piety to gain power, just like everyone else is trying to do.

He's not Howland Reed which is one of the more ridiculous theories.

They do and it surely would be. He'd probably have to had been doing it his entire life to pull it off. That's why it could be plausible because he's just been MIA forever.

I don't think he is the HS. I want to see more of him and not just from the flashback.

Is there any other reason they do the flashback other than confirming R+L=J?

The entire high sparrow story of the show is a pretty big bore to me. Maybe it's because it's pretty small potatoes at this point

The Moutain aspect of it is really the only part that keeps it worth being in the show

Then again, you could say that about 70 percent of Danys scenes during the shows run (re watching an she sticks out like a sore thumb made up of boredom)

I roll my eyes when Dany comes on. I do like her interactions with Tyrion, but it's because of him.

Seeing Drogon looking so big maybe her storyline will be more exciting.

The HS/Cersei storyline is pretty slow and I'd imagine it will pick up. I wonder if they'll make UnGregor more menacing than the regular Mountain. I don't know how they can though

Hopefully we see some speed up after Myrcella's death

I can't think of anything else. I think they go straight from ToJ with Ned and Lyanna to Jon lying dead in the snow.

Anyway, they need to do the scene just to introduce Reed's character. I don't think he's been mentioned at all in the show, except in passing by Meera and Jojen when they first met Bran.

I just hope they picked someone good to play Arthur Dayne.

I agree with all of this. I hope it's a long scene. Dayne is my favorite character we can really never know, so I hope he's incredible

I read that they cast the part based mostly on sword fighting ability. He doesn't really have to be a great actor, just not embarrassingly bad, just as long as he kicks arse.

quote:

First, let’s talk a little about Eddie Eyre, the actor who was cast in the mysterious role of “Ser Alfred Hunrith” a while back. Given his extensive sword-fighting experience, most people saw through that name and figured that Eyre was actually being cast as Ser Arthur Dayne, a legendary kingsguard knight slain by Ned Stark and company at the Tower of Joy.

That assumption was bolstered when Eyre started tweeting about heading to Spain to film a scene that involved him fighting in armor. Those tweets came down the pipeline shortly before we started getting video and pics of a group of actors fighting at the Castillo de Zafra, which stands in for the Tower of Joy. Odds are good that Eyre is among those combatants.
Eyre

quote:

But if Eyre’s not playing Dayne, who is? A commenter at fansite Watchers on the Wall may have the answer. According to the commenter, “Luke Roberts has been in training for weeks and was joined last week by Eddie Eyre and Rob Aramayo.” Luke Roberts is an English actor known for roles in BBC dramas like Colby City and Mile High. This one is hard to verify, but Roberts certainly has the physical presence to play a character like Dayne.
Roberts

quote:

Now, let’s get back to Robert Aramayo. If Eyre is playing a young Ned Stark, which seems likely, and Roberts is playing Dayne, which seems plausible, and the three of them all trained together, Aramayo may well be playing Howland Reed, Ned Stark’s friend who was present during the fight at the Tower of Joy. In the up-close video of the fight that surfaced earlier today, a figure sneaks up behind Dayne and stabs him in the back. Odds are that this is Reed, a short, diminutive man who hails from the Neck, an area just south of the North. In the books, Howland Reed is father to Jojen Reed, the young psychic Bran meets on his journey towards the Wall, which brings me to this.

Eyre has the training, but he looks way more like Sean Bean. Roberts has to be Dayne and Aramayo has to be Reed.

There are a lot of potential reasons for ToJ. Can't completely discredit the theories that involve Arthur Dayne still being alive. For that matter, it's all but in writing that R+L=J, but it isn't yet.
