Seems like this thread is doing okay.
Outside of the fact that R+L=J is being brought up in every other post. I thought it was determined that R+L=J was off limits in this thread...no?

Probably from the fact that the gray scaled people acted like wild animals with rabies last week
This cocomo.. The theory kind of came up in discussion on greyscale because the stonemen were acting like wild rabid animals

Why would it be when it, the theory, can be backed up with material from the show?
Do we have to see Jon Snows birth certificate on the show before we can discuss who his parents might be?

I understand that. But we've also seen other people with the disease that aren't mad. That's all I'm saying.
As for the theory, who knows. We can vote on it I guess. But clearly nobody randomly comes to that conclusion solely from watching the show. The readers will because they know more than we do. And ole boy in here puts it together because he's heard of it before. I agree that it's one of the biggest "theories" out there, so not having heard of it before is a bit of bullshite. I mean shite, it's been brought up several times in the Hodor threads even.

What conclusions did you draw from the conversation between Baelish and Sansa in the crypt, esp the part about Rhaegar giving Lyanna flowers instead of his wife and the look on Littlefingers face when Sansa said that Rhaegar then kidnapped Lyanna and raped her.
And then when Stannis commented to his wife that fricking some random "wasn't Ned Starks way"
Plus the interest that the red witch and Stannis have taken in Jon Snow, not to mention he's still alive while what we thought would turn out to be major players like Rob King of the North Stark is dead.
That didn't/hasnt set off any bells with anyone else?

It's easy to deduce this when you already know the theory.

Well it seems like hers was contained. Stannis had a bunch of maesters do everything possible to save her.
I don't think she is the usual case of greyscale, just like if the son of a president got the same cancer as a kid from the Bronx did. It's just not the same level of "doom" for that person

Bookreaders posting in the thread period is off limits. Don't go in here and set rules. You are one of us. :lolL

Back on topic:
shite is about to go down in Winterfell. Stannis, the Boltens, Sansa, Theon, and Brienne all in the same place at the same time. One of these characters has got to die soon. I'm hoping for the Boltens obviously.
With Sir Bareston dead, grew worm injured, and Jorah a potential stone man, could it be that Varys and Tyrion basically become her small council? Would make her story so much more interesting. What they could teach her about whispers and politics would be a very good lesson for her.

Sure, but of course it will set off bells if you've already known about "the theory" before. Taking all of that on face value within the show and jumping to the theory on your own is not what happened.

So why is your name all over this thread, Nap?
Seems like no matter what, the book readers can't stay in their own thread and leave us Hodors alone to try to figure shite out (no matter how intelligently or stupidly we try).

Amen to everything you said.
Add the one scene where Maester Aemon says "A Targaryen ,alone in the world is a terrible thing" (or something like that) and then Jon comes into the scene with a dramatic pause.

I will say that my wife (never read books or other materials, pulled into the show by me and is now a big fan, and hates Tiger Droppings in general) asked me, "So Jon is a Targaryen?" So yeah, apparently, it can be deduced just from the show.

I don't completely disagree with you, but I'm just not willing to jump in and say that greyscale makes you crazy. For all we know, the stone men in Valyria attack anybody that tries to pass through, and tries to either kill them and/or steal their shite. For all we know, the stone men are just assholes due to being banished to Valyria for life and they're basically vandals.
Again, I wouldn't be against rolling with greyscale making people mad, I'd just like to go on more than just seeing a fwe stone men attack the boat.

And to clarify, I have no problems with that at all. But TP, who's a poster in these threads, all of a sudden acting like he just put that 2 and 2 together on his own is a stretch since it's been talked about ad nauseum around here, even in Hodor threads.
That's what was so funny to me originally.

Agreed. I still hate Theon, but I admittedly would like to see him get his revenge on Ramsay...only to then turn around and get got by Sansa getting her revenge. And then right before he dies, he spills the beans that Bran and Rickon are alive.
I could see something like that happening in the finale of this season; like that being the final scene for that storyline. I could even see a quick glance at Bran/Rickon as the season ends (I know they've said we won't see them, but who knows).

I could get down with that. Tyrion and Varys are two of the show's better characters. So not only would they make Dany's story WAY more interesting, but they could also school her on politics and teach her how to play the game. Especially since they (Tyrion with his own eyes, but surely Varys as well) know that the dragons are real and how much that fact vaults Dany to the frontrunner for capturing the Iron Throne.
Them finally getting to Dany is one scene I'm dying to see actually...that has to play out pretty cool on TV once it happens. And hopefully Varys will be there as well (maybe he either knows that jorah has Tyrion or he just continues on his quest to Dany anyway).

You askec me a direct question, so I am bound to have to answer.
I have three posts in the thread, he has three posts on this page.
I am not having show discussions. I just told him to get out. Then I am responding to you and another (first) post was to point out that someone was calling something a spoiler that's not even in the books.
But I guess that is "all over".
whatever. this is the last year of the Hodor thread anyway (thank god)
ETA , my bad. The Stannis one I slipped on because I thought I was in the other thread. I even mentioned it there, but didn;t want to delete because then people will think I posted spoilers and left.
Sorry, cokes..

You did ask him to leave, which is fine. I'm just saying I remember seeing your name before that post, and you even say that bookreaders shouldn't be in here at all. Yet here we have two readers having a conversation in here. That's all I'm saying.
And you definitely are having "show discussions." You have a post in this thread telling people to go watch a certain clip on youtube, and that it's "from the first book in the first season," but that it was cut from the show...and it is one source of one of the theories. And you then answer a question about the Stannis/Davos conversation for clarification and tell us that it was "nothing important."
Don't you sort of see the problem there? The whole point of this thread is to not have readers in it AT ALL, let alone readers in here trying to point us in the right direction on things or clarify things for us.
And I'm seriously not trying to be a dick at all (or mad at you, or bitching at you, etc.), so hopefully that's not how it seems. I'm just saying..

Doubtful. There will still need to be at least two threads IMO. The separate threads weren't created for "spoilers" as much as they were created to people with similar knowledge of the series could discuss it with their counterparts (readers, semi-readers, and nonreaders).
