Not really, the Hound and Arya's sword teacher come to mind. Hell, for awhile I thought the Hound actually made it when old sharp teeth was wearing his helm and fricking shite up.

As others have said none of us know for sure. The book makes it look that way certainly and he may "stay dead".
But I agree with those that say GRRM sure has set it up for a "warg into a wolf, Mel does red magic, Jon comes back from the dead, is released from his vows and/or is the 999th as well as 998th or whatever commander of the night's watch (can't remember the significance of whatever that number is but I seem to remember it has some) and volia!
Only thing I really want out of the books/show right now is for Tyrion to ride a fricken dragon. If they give me that they can kill off whoever they want and put whoever they want on the iron throne and handle the white walker storyline however they want.

I hope that is the cliffhanger for the season. No hodor is going to care about Kevan dying and pycelle isn't terribly important.

Everything seems to be pointing to that being a season ending cliffhanger with how quickly they made him The Lord Commander on the show.
