My initial thought with him is that his new conscious will either out cersi or make her kill him in fear of being outed. I don't really see the purpose of him otherwise.

Oh good god dude give me a fricking break.

I enjoyed the episode. Too many naked dudes, but I have come to expect that now. I also wonder what happens to the wildlings after the wildling kings death. I am aware Stannis promised them land, but I assumed that was only if he pledged his loyalty and agreed to fight for Stannis.

If Stannis leaves to claim his throne there is no way the Nights Watch can defeath the WW's.

Would be awesome, and I definitely expect that to happen this season at least once.

I assume Daenerys will eventually be able to control them better...assuming she still has SOME control over them. Well maybe not "control," but she clearly has a connection to them as she is their "mother" and the other two didn't kill her when she went into their dungeon last night.

But hopefully the other two will be released as well so there are a few dragons just randomly flying around the world wrecking shite. That would be awesome IMO.

Also, was the dude with Dany last night the same one that was the Second Sons dude that had to be recast?...the one who killed the other two dudes and brought their heads to Dany when she was taking a bath that time?

I feel like it was, but wasn't quite sure.

He will take it only on his way to King's Landing. K'sL/the iron throne is his main goal I believe.

I thought the Red Witch told him at the end of S4 that "The battle for the King's Landing means nothing" and the implied White Walker war as the real war... or something like that...

Did anyone else get confused why Stannis is worried about the Boltons?

Yeah. They banged last season right before Jorah was banished

He's the one that killed the slave owners champion in what amounted to be the only interesting thing Danny did all of last season

The Boltons are the Wardens of the North under the Baratheon rule. (Basically what the Starks were before, you know, everything happened)

If he wants to be the king, he has to go through them first

Hmm, I do kinda remember something like that. But I still thought that KL and the iron throne was still his ultimate goal. And besides, isn't the Red Chick (what was the name for her a while back...red titty witch? ) was championing the whole "Stannis is the true heir to the throne, not Joffrey" case.

So while the impending WW battle may be the most important thing, they still are headed to KL. At least that's how I see it.

I was pumped about seeing my man Davos last night. I love that dude. And Shireen got some screen time too.

I think he wants to make sure there is a kingdom to rule before sitting on the throne

True.

Also, it would definitely be easier to fight the WWs in the south than the north.

Yes. That was him. His name is Daario. Some of you need to really start paying attention.

Stannis is trying to take back Winterfell because

1) It's just the right thing to do because the Boltons are evil.

2) He still needs more men, resources, etc. for the coming wars.

I wouldn't call the Religon of burning people alive, the "good guys"

They are their own kind of evil

The truth of the matter is that Stannis is the ONLY leader in the ENTIRE story to recognize the true enemy and try to do something about it. Also, that god that he burns people in the name of seems to be pretty damn real so far.

In the world that George R.R. Martin has created, Stannis is the closest thing to a real hero that we've got.

John Snow and Tyrion have been 100 times more heroic

Stannis just does whatever his witch tells him.

Boltens aren't reliable or trustworthy. Plus they are loyal to the lannisters.

How is that?

my wife and soon to be sister-in-law watch it so me and the BIL generally watch it too. it's okay. clearly aimed at women as the target audience. until now it's avoided falling into the soap opera trap, but unfortunately the last episode insinuates it's headed that way.

I will give you Jon Snow, as he recognizes the Others as the true enemy. He still isn't as heroic as Stannis though, because he doesn't have a position of power to do anything about it, and might not ever because of his bastard lineage.

Tyrion, however, has been heroic in selfish or small-scale ways relative to the good of the Realm. His most heroic act in fact (saving King's Landing) was done against a man that would have ultimately been a much better ruler and King for it and the Realm.
