I am way off in that case. I guess I assumed Oberyn was from the same place as the dancing teacher because they both look Italian and everyone seems to insult them for being greasy. Where is Bravos? Isn't Dorne not one of the 7 kingdoms? I thought the Martels fell under the rule of the crown. Why does everyone insult those from Dorne but not insult the Martells?

This is my map from the other day:

You see King's Landing (in yellow)? Dorne is the foot-looking part on the bottom of that continent.

ETA: Braavos is on the top part of the other continent, above the "Ho" of "Holy shite."

Dorne is the southern-most region of Westeros. It's like the region that has its own norms and doesn't follow in lock step with the rest of Westeros, but is still part of the 7 kingdoms. (like Texas, perhaps). I think it is well established with Oberyn's dialogue that those from Dorne know they do things differently and are looked down upon. Oberyn has been passively insulted a few times by Tywin and Cersei in previous episodes.

Braavos is across the Narrow Sea.

I believe Westeros is an Island and Essos is a continent across the Narrow Sea from it. Bravos is in Essos near the top directly across the Narrow Sea from The Vale in Westeros. Dorne is the southern most region of Westeros. This map looks spoiler free, just place names. You might want to open it separately so you can blow it up full size LINK

Check out HBO's viewers guide. It helped me a ton when looking throught he Map. You can choose an episode and it can show you where the scenes were located.

Dorne is in Westoros in the bottom right hand corner.

The 7 Kingdoms
Kingdom of the North, ruled by House Stark of Winterfell
Kingdom of the Mountain and the Vale, ruled by House Arryn of the Eyrie
Kingdom of the Isles and Rivers, ruled by House Hoare of castle Harrenhal.
Kingdom of the Rock, ruled by House Lannister of Casterly Rock
Kingdom of the Stormlands, ruled by House Durrandon of Storm's End
Kingdom of the Reach, ruled by House Gardener of Highgarden
Dorne, ruled by House Martell of Sunspear.

Looking at that map, I'm also a little confused as to how Yara sailed from the Iron Islands to the Dreadfort.

It looks like that trip should have taken like 4 years unless there's some kind of strait I'm not seeing

Hes not that close.... Dragonstone is where he is at. Unless you mean Bravoos is kind of close I guess.

Yeah, unless there's some river or something, going by land might have been quicker, especially if the Iron Born hold Moat Cailin, which on the map I posted is probably a little above the "O" in Westeros, between Barrowtown and White Harbor.

Yeah, I was referring to Braavos, but I suppose he might have to sail elsewhere first to find troops

Well that's just stupid if they control Moat Cailin.

I have 2 questions for the board. Let me first say that although I do watch GOT every week, I am not as astute as many of you are, I miss many of the little things that occur on the show and obviously don't have the keen eye or ear that many of you have. With that said, here are my 2 questions.

1. The Iron Bank. If the IB has most of the money, can we assume that they have a bad arse army protecting it? Why not just attack it and steal all the gold? I have not heard anything on any of the episodes about their army. Can anyone enlighten me on this.

2. The whole poisoning of the king. So the fool gives Sansa the poison filled necklace. Little Finger gave it to the fool. G-Maw Tyrell had knowledge of it as well. We still don't know who actually put it into dipshit kings cup, do we? Why go through all that trouble to get poison into the wedding? It's not like each person had to pass through a TSA checkpoint to enter the wedding. Anyone could have brought it into the wedding. With that said, do y'all think that this was all set up by Tywin? Did he have to make sure that it came out at the trial that Tyrions wife had the necklace? Is this all the doing of Tywin? If so, I can see 2 advantages to killing the king and doing it this way. One advantage would be that the king is dead. he sucked as a king and was going to ruin the kingdom. Tywin had to know this. The second advantage would be that Tyrion was blamed because of Sansa and Jaime would have to get into check with Tywins master plan. Yes? No? Maybe?

I would think Braavos has some pretty badass guys. Syrio was the former first sword of Braavos and he was kicking Kingsguard arse with a wooden sword.

I think they have been telling us G-Maw did it.

Let me break this down.

quote:

No, but the assumption is it was Olenna, Being that she was playing with her necklace and it seemed to be missing a stone after that. Also she admitted her involvement to Marg.

quote:

The point was to frame Sansa. They needed a fall guy and Sansa had tons of motive. So they planted the necklace on her. Although they helped her escape it is still pinned on her and Tyrion.

quote:

With that said, do y'all think that this was all set up by Tywin? Did he have to make sure that it came out at the trial that Tyrions wife had the necklace? Is this all the doing of Tywin?

No. Tywin had no reason to kill his grandson while framing it on Tyrion and Sansa. It hurts his family name and the Stark name line he made his son marry.

You really think he expected Jamie to ask for that deal. No way.

Also yes Braavos is known for Money and swordsmen. They have plenty of Sellswords also.

Then, I realized, he's sparing Jamie from his deal with Tywin, without even knowing all the particulars.

I think he knows that was Tywin's game all along to get Jamie to CR, and his other male heir to the wall. Tyrion hates Tywin so much he just wants to frick up his plans damn the consequences. Shae's betrayal just sent him over the edge.

Tywin's intent all along was to get Jamie to CR. I suspect that even if Jamie didn't go to him with the deal, he would have suggested it himself.
