The imp tried to get joffrey laid, which backfired because Joffrey is clearly mentally ill.
Tyrion knows Joffrey is sadistic and knew what he'd do with the girls. Remember him talking about how Joffrey was at a stage where he liked to pull wings off of flies (or something like that). Tyrion just doesn't want him to do it to Sansa, so he sacrificed some whores.

Makes sense, I could see that at least being implied in the book.
Hopefully he doesnt whack Ros, I like her rack enough to keep her around.

I think this was an added scene not in the book, so I'm just guessing based on what was presented in the show.

The original guy that they cast was enormous, supposedly 7' 320#s and former body builder
He got his face cut off in Spartacus.

Why does everyone like this soap opera again?
Because it is incredibly great TV viewing. Arya being Tywan's cup girl should be rather interesting. Joffrey being joffrey and the shadow birth was un-fricking real. Blown away.

I was caught off guard by the shadow thing. Seemed kind of out of place and very strange in relation to the story at its current state.

My roommate started shouting and threw his chair. It was pretty intense.

Speaking of, what does one 'cup-girl' do?

Is it worth going back and reading the books? Might be a question for the Book readers thread.

Couldn't tell you, as I haven't read them. But those that have say it's absolutely worth it. I'm going to try to read them and catch up to the end of this season before summer is over.

Ah. Good. This show has made me think bad and gross things will always happen. Glad for once I'm wrong.
ETA: And with his accent at first it sounded like cock girl. I had to rewind it.

I watched the first season without reading the book. And I enjoyed it quite a bit.
But having read all of the books since the end of season 1 (literally couldn't put them down), I think it's helped me a great deal keep up with who is who and provides that backstory because the cast/storyline is so expansive. It hasn't ruined the story for me at all, but significantly enhanced it.
I'd highly recommend it. I'm sure some won't agree though.

well I figured she'd turn up pregnant sooner or later, just not so soon and I thought it would be a legit kid that would have a claim to the throne later on and he would have some sort dark magic powers.
