They should just have him resume being Dwight and have him work at a tshirt shop on the Jersey Shore or some other fish out of water scenario.

I kind of liked it but it never seemed to gain traction. Not shocked it got only one season.

It sucked.
FOX is fricking terrible and doesn't allow shows to develop. The only shite they care about is any reality shite they have and any animation they have - AND even then, they canceled Family Guy twice AND American Dad. They also canceled The Good Guys with Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks which had potential.
TLDR: Backstrom wasn't a great show, but FOX sucks. No clue what they're doing.
