So I've gotta seven year old who's never seen it. His godfather decided tonight was the night so Mrs P went and ran errands while the three of us watched it. It was amazing!!!!

We took breaks and discussed what was going on and his stupid cluelessness was awesome!

We took a break, for instance, before Darth Vader set out to find Obi and asked who he thought would win and why.

Then we took another after and asked him why obi sacrificed himself. It was just awesome hearing it from a seven year old.

Can't wait til next weekend with empire. It's gonna be awesome.

Watching a PG movie with a seven year old? You should be jailed.

Sorry, not used to serious threads from you, thought I had to subtle-troll it up.

My step kids love it. I'm bringing them opening day.

Meh, I only did that on the ot and that has kinda played its course.

But the point of this thread is remembering how awesome the original trilogy was. I got to watch a kid scream "uh oh" when the y wings died and "yeah!" when Luke nailed the shot to destroy the death star. It was just cool.

He even talked about what a dick Vader was for killing Luke's dad, and we all exchanged smirks thinking "wait til next weekend kid". It was a great feeling.

I watched the first 2 with my 8 y.o. He is a huge fan now

I forgot how terribly bad the dialogue in the original Star Wars is. Just brutal. How many times can Luke say 'where could he be' in the big trash compactor.

I watched Return with a 4 year old and had to explain that Ewoks aren't real animals. She was so disappointed.

Are you leaving the prequels out, or are you watching it the Machete way?

The little dignity he has, he better keep it and not show them.

Sounds awful. Just let him watch the fricking movie for Christ's sake. I'd be annoyed as shite with all of these intermissions

Do you have a child that is around seven? Mine would love having the undivided and genuine attention of two adults in her family for a couple solid hours.

How you would want to watch the movies likely does not equal what a seven year old wants or likes.
