It's pretty hit or miss, if you ask me. But when it hits, it's hilarious. Definitely worth the watch.

A kiss is not a contract, business time, and the whole bowie episode are wonderful.
I think season 1 has better music, but some of the season 2 plots are better. The Simon and garfunkel cover band bit was incredible.

I need to rewatch all the episodes. I have season 1 on DVD but haven't watched since buying it circa 2007-08ish. I used to love this show.
