After reading about the Point Break reboot, I have an honest question, have there been any that were better or remotely as good as the original in your opinion? I pretty much refuse to watch any of them.

Examples that suck:
Willy Wonka
Karate Kid
Red Dawn
Footloose

Add Total Recall and they are always worse.

I really liked Tron Legacy (which I was ready to hate), but it was done more like a sequel.

What do you mean, more like? It was a sequel, not a remake. And it was terrible.

Wonka was even worse. Depp turned Wonka into Michael Jackson.

Footloose wasn't worth a watch.

Red Dawn was an embarrassment.

ARTHUR has got to be near the top of the charts for worst remake.

Didn't see Karate Kid because I hate that weird arse punk, but I heard it wasn't terrible.

All solid choices.

I didn't hate The Manchurian Candidate. I wasn't a fan of the original but that has to do with my irrational dislike of Angela Lansbury.

Not a remake, more of reboot, but the Dredd movie with Karl Urban is worlds better than the Stallone version.

I would almost agree with True Grit if Jeff Bridges hadn't put a bag of marbles in his mouth before he spoke.

You think these were remotely good??

Let me rephrase: You think any one of these was anything above a horrific abomination?

As far as good remakes: 3:10 to Yuma, Ocean's 11, True Grit, The Parent Trap all come to mind as better than the originals.

Not even close. Kim Darby owned that role, and no one can replace Wayne.

True. It's exactly a sequel, disregard entry. I dug it, but know there's a lot that didn't.

Not to hijack, but is this his thing now. I watched (regrettably) Seventh Son last night and I could barely understand him.

I Agree. Diana Ross was pretty fly in the Wiz.
