so I can start up new season without watching the first two correct? its an anthology but didn't know if they had any ties
Yes, most likely.
Season 2 was essentially a prequel to season 1, but only 1 character really carried over. There was nothing learned in season 1 that was essential to make sense of season 2. They were virtually independent of each other, but it was fun to connect some dots.
Season 3 is set after season 1 and there will likely be some connections, but I doubt you need to know anything from season 1 or 2. That said, if you have access to seasons 1 and 2, you should watch them immediately. They were spectacular.

I preferred season 1 but both seasons were amazing
Agreed. I was more invested in/concerned with Lester and his fumble fricking around.
And BBT was amazing in S1. Him torturing the grocery store owner was fantastic and lol funny.

I'm watching the season finale of Season 1 as I type this. Amazing series.
Seeing the commercials for Season 3 with Ewan McGregor got me wanting to watch the first 2 seasons first. I didn't realize these were anthologies at first and weren't necessarily needed to be able to follow along but the OCD in me wouldn't let me start at season 3 anyway. LOL
Can't wait to dig into seasons 2 & 3.

Besides the name, does this movie have anything to do with the movie? I've been thinking of watching the show from the start, but was wondering if there were any tie ins to the movie.
It's a different story with different characters every season.

Intrested to see if we ever go back to 1988 East Berlin or if it was just to establish some themes for the season (mistaken identity and bureaucracy were the obvious ones I caught). Were the first scenes in S1 and S2 also kinda out of left field? I don't remember.
I hope Gloria's ex's homosexuality is a plot device and wasn't used just so the show can say "look how progressive we are."
One friend pointed out that hostile takeover of Emmit's parking business has lots of potential for shenanigans. Would be a great way for BBT to make an appearance (though I doubt it).
Really liked the first episode. Already started finding absurd ways to murder characters
and Nikki...

Her arse was so nice!
VM Varga was a weird arse dude. He annoyed me a lil bit, will see how that goes.
AC unit fricked that guy up. Enjoyed the episode though

Just finished watching the premiere. I'm still trying to piece together the connection between Berlin and this story. Could the stamps be from East Berlin somehow?
A few notes:
-I love that they killed another relatively known actor in the premiere. It's almost defiance on Hawley's behalf. "Surely they're not going to kill Scoot McNairy off.""frick you, yes we are!"
-Could anyone make out the book titles in Inis' lockbox?
-If Inis was a Stussy does that make Carrie Coon Ray and Emmitt's cousin?
-Thewlis crushed it
-Only Fargo could have stamp theft as an inciting incident
Anyways, solid opening episode

Probably, and I'd guess it was their dead father. Stussy = Stasi? Although Inis may make this unlikely, though it would explain his drinking. Also interesting that the stamp is Sisyphus pushing the rock uphill. The title of Season 2 Episode 3 was "The myth of Sysyphus". The stamp is 2 cents with the first 2 reversed, and this error is probably why it is valuable.
The opening felt like a Wes Anderson movie, at first anyway. Thewlis is a great choice for the villian. And I had absolutely no idea that Ewan McGregor was in this, even after watching. Between the accent and the hair it went right by me.
I love Mike Ehrmentraut as much as anyone in the universe but I really wish Fargo hadn't used his last name. Too much breaking (badly) of the third wall.
Very solid beginning to Season 3. It's going to be an interesting question whether I like Fargo or Better Call Saul when they finish their seasons. It's great to have two shows of this quality, both are top tier for sure.

Wasn't it Rick not Mike mentioned in Fargo. Doubt they would plug another show on different network.

That's why I said "last name". It's an extremely unusual name and the Fargo writers are not oblivious. It's pretty obvious that they gave a nod to Breaking Bad/Saul.

Just googled Rick Ehrmentraut. Dentist in St Paul. May be a common name there.

The per episode expenditures on music rights for this show must be astronomical.
