There is another "city" near Vernon called Maywood that is very corrupt as well. Ironically, one of my old college professors ended up as the chief of police there. I don't know what it is about the southern point of LA county that attracts so much corruption.

The fact this season has to be "explained" so much is one of its biggest issues.

Next town over from Maywood is Bell, where the Chief of Police for a town of 35,000 was making $500k/year and the whole town council made $100k+ for part time work.
