Elijah Wood says Hollywood is masking child sex epidemic in its seedy underbelly

Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood claims that Hollywood has its own Jimmy Savile scandal and believes young actors are being sexually abused by predatory 'vipers' in the industry.

The Hobbit actor, 35, told The Sunday Times that the child abuse is 'probably still happening'

He told The Sunday Times that his mother had protected him from abuse when he first arrived in Hollywood aged eight.

But he said: 'I've been led down dark paths to realise that these things are probably still happening.'

The actor, who played Frodo Baggins in Lord of the Rings, believes that other actors remain in danger.

He added: 'If you're innocent, you have very little knowledge of the world and you want to succeed.

'People with parasitic interests will see you as their prey. What upsets me about these situations is that the victims can't speak as loudly as the people in power.'

Wood, who now knows he was lucky to avoid being abused, compared the allegations in Hollywood to the claims linked to Savile following his death in October 2011.

Wood said: 'You all grew up with Savile - Jesus, it must have been devastating. Clearly something major was going on in Hollywood. It was all organised.

'There are a lot of vipers in this industry. There is a darkness in the underbelly - if you can imagine it, it's probably happened.'

I thought this was pretty widely known. Stanley Kubrick did a series of movies that hinted such before his death.

Feldman, who said Haim was also abused.

Good for Wood that he doesn't care about consequences and has the balls to say it. It's rampant.

I remember reading some reports on it a few years back. I was surprised with how quickly it disappeared. It's as if no one gave a shite.

Off the top of my head I know that Greg Grunberg, Kevin Smith, Kirstie Alley, Chris Rock, Jay Leno, Howard Stern, Bill Maher, Neil Gaiman, Jewel, John Legend, Janine Garofalo, and Luc Besson have all said he should be in jail. I'm sure there are many more. Garofalo in particular was pissed about that "Hollywood" petition to free that frick b/c she believes most people think he is a POS.

Water is wet.

This stuff has been exposed since Jimmy Dean's time, at least. Probably goes back further to the 40's when actors had no voice and media bosses were like the mafia controlled everything.

People thought it was just Marilyn Monroe and starlets who got this horrible treatment...like upon signing a big contract with MGM and she remarked "thank god I'll never have to suck another bleep again to get a part."

From all the stories you hear - that make their way out of the Hollywood Berlin Wall - The industry is far darker and evil than casting couch.

It's logically the next step. I have no idea how this shite stays covered and nobody is ever responsible. People are so worried about their careers that they never talk about it.
