Just got back from seeing the finale at the Orpheum. Thought it was a great ending and tied everything up nicely. As much as it was time for the show to end, I'm still sad to see it go.

Hate to see it go, but it was time.

Great ending! There was some serious coupling up going on over those few months. My wife and I counted 6.

Glad it's over. Loved 1st 3 seasons but I was vested in the show. Everyone landed someone except for Barow.

well, that's a wrap.

everybody gets a happy ending. except for Carson I guess? and Barrow falls in shite, comes out smelling like a rose.

1 question. why was it Rose who took robert to see cora at work? didn't she just get back in town? how was she such an expert on how well cora was doing?

daisy actually managed to look attractive at the end. And the whole maid having a baby in the "lady's" bed was funny.

Carson: in Lady Mary's bed? i should think not.

mary ends up married to a used car salesman.

I don't really see Carson's ending as that bad. True, he's sick with a bad disease but it takes a while to run its course and he's an older man. He got married to the woman he loves who will care for him in his declining health. He gets a pension and even gets to continue looking over the house as elder statesman. Not a terrible ending for the guy.

yeah, not a bad ending really. just didn't seem "happy". overall i like how they wrapped everything up. Although it would have been great for Tom to end up with someone. Assuming it would have been that teacher who annoys everyone else?

I think it was made clear he ends up with Edith's editor.

That was a very successful story arc. I hated that guy, HATED him. I mean I spent literally 5 seasons wanting to physically hurt the guy. Then this season they totally sold me on his change and redeemed him in my eyes. I was actually happy for the guy.

And yes, they seemed to indicate that Tom and Edith's editor would be getting together.

Nice finale. Enjoyed the series. Looking forward to one day going over there and visiting film locations.

Rose's parents are divorced. Maybe she just didn't want Robert and Cora to have marital issues over this. Hearing Robert comment about Cora spending so much time at the hospital likely reminded her of her parents before they divorced.

And, who knew Spratt was an undercover columnist!!

I loved where the Dowager went up to him at the reception and Dinka thinks this is the moment the Dowager fires Spratt.....and then she just complements him. I'm gonna miss the Dowager's character the most I think.

I watched part of a Harry Potter marathon earlier yesterday...totally forgot Maggie Smith was in those movies as well.

Did you watch the BAFTA awards show before the finale last night?

It was cool seeing all the actors from the show. Only one I didn't see was Jessica (actress who played Sybil). They even interviewed the actor who played Matthew and asked him how long the public asked about his balls (getting him confused with his character).

I will definitely miss her the most. I turn up the volume any time she speaks so I don't miss any of her Dowagerisms.

My favorite scene was when she and Mrs. Crawley went to rescue Lord Mertens from his son and daughter-in-law. Mrs. Crawley finally went full throttle with the help of the Dowager. It was magnificent!

My second favorite scene was when Denker thought she was sealing Spratt's fate by tattling on him only to have the Dowager loving his column and the fact that he's been secretly writing it. I wanted Denker fired, though.

Pretty much everyone was mated by the end of the show. It's implied that Tom and the editor will be the next up at the altar. Barrow didn't get a mate, but he got the job of this dreams. I got teary eyed when he left the manor for the new job as much as I haven't liked him. I suppose he's redeemed himself and, if not, Carson would still be around top put him in his place, anyway.

Mrs. Patmore will go from an accused Madame to wife of a pig farmer and Daisy will be with Andy.

Too bad Shirley Maclaine didn't make a cameo and have a verbal duel with the Dowager for good measure. That was the only thing missing for me.

I'm glad Edith spilled the beans to her future mother-in-law, so that wasn't left unanswered.

Mary with the used car salesman husband and Edith as royalty is a hoot! The irony!!

I think they wrapped it up pretty darn well. Thank goodness the Bates had a healthy child and it was only right that he be born in Mary's bed.

Really one of the most satisfying finales ever. I loved that they tied up so many loose ends and I particularly loved Edith's happy ending. I'm gonna miss this show.
