I love going to the movies by myself. If the wife is out of town and i have nothing else to do, i'll go to the theater early on sunday and watch movies all day.

For the rare times that I do go to the movies, more often than not I go by myself. Mainly because nobody wants to see the movie that I want to see.

I go to a new comedy alone, and start laughing out loud when the MPAA rating appears on the screen.

I just can't imagine going to the movies alone. Not that I think people that do it are weird, I'm just the type of person that doesn't like doing anything alone. I've never had a problem getting somebody to go to see any movie I've wanted to see. My girlfriend will pretty much come along for anything I want to watch. Often times, I prefer to see "guy movies" w/ groups of male friends and it's rarely a problem getting a group together.

I DESPISE going out to eat alone, to the degree that I've passed up free meals at hotel restaurants when traveling and instead opted to just order and pay for pizza and stay in my room. I hate shopping by myself, standing in lines for any reason by myself, sitting by myself at sporting events/concerts, etc.

I know lots of people who are perfectly comfortable doing some or all of those things alone and they're not weird by any means. I think I'm the weird one.

Somebody has some issues to work out!

That's certainly my excuse. Though the soon-to-be Mrs. Baloo likes the same movies I do as a general rule. So it's not tough to drag her to the Angelika.

Sometime going alone can be a lot of fun.

In all fairness, TD isn't a good representation of society at large

It's less a microcosm of America, and more representative of those weird relatives that your family doesn't go out of town to visit anymore.

I do. Now that I have kids and all of my friends are responsible adults with jobs and kids of their own....Every now and then I have to see a movied by my self if I really want to catch it on the big screen so to speak. I take the kids and wife as much as i can and even my mom when she asks me to go, but if its a rate R movie i cant take the kids to and something the wife doesnt car to see then yes sometimes i go buy my self.

I rarely eat out by myself but I love to watch a matinee at the theater with hardly anyone else in the audience.

I don't have A/C in my apartment (only really "need" it a couple weeks out of the year), and I don't work during the day very often, so sometimes I'll ride my bike up to a movie theater and watch a shitty flick just to cool down.

And jerk off.

I can see why most State fans would have to read in groups.
