At least her very existence wasn't centered around the Doctor, unlike "The Girl Who Waited"

But she grew up and got over that. That's what made her such a great character. I loved this speech when I realized she wasn't talking about the doctor:

Amy: But not as brave as they all have to be. Because there's someone coming. I don't know where he is, or what he's doing, but trust me. He's on his way.
Amy: There's a man who's never going to let us down. And not even an army can get in the way.
Amy: He's the last of his kind. He looks young but he's lived for hundreds and hundreds of years. And wherever they take you, Melody, however scared you are, I promise you, you will never be alone. Because this man is your father. He has a name, but the people of our world know him better... as the Last Centurion.

Yes. Yes she did.

Waters of Mars is a top 5 for me. No doubt. Off the top of my head, my five favorite episodes would be. Waters Vincent and the Doctor The God Complex The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit Parting of the Ways But there are so many more awesome ones

Hard to argue with that list or any others in this thread.
My top 5 will change at any given moment, but here are some:
City of death
Waters of Mars
The girl who waited
Blink
Silence in the library
Angels take manhattan

Oh and only 24 hours left

Everybody likes this, but, for some reason I can't pinpoint, I couldn't stand it. Dunno why.

I love it. It has a real "the thing" and "alien" feel to it. My only complaint was that I loved how the doctor's arc led him to his "time lord victorious" moment, but I felt that ended too soon. I think an episode or two of him going off the deep end trying to control history would have been phenomenal.

I don't.

I might be misremembering episodes but this was one of the worst uses of the sonic screwdriver which somehow changes an electric powered vehicle into a ROCKET PROPELLED vehicle.

I truly don't understand why so many people continue to give this show a pass for the laziest writing of any Sci-Fi show I have ever watched.

Almost 100% of the episodes end with the lazy wand being waved and doing things it never did before. There is a reason the damn thing was called a SCREWRIVER.

Ok, 2 complaints.
I normally don't mind screwdriver silliness or silly robots, but they didn't fit this otherwise creepy/bleak episode.

This girl is making it hard for me to focus on the storyline. Easily one of the hottest women I've ever seen.

About to get truly bashed, but I find her incredibly unattractive. Her proportions are just wrong.

IMO, I think it's much better if you think of it as happening just before Classic-Who's Valeyard.

I did hate the sonic-enhanced robot part.

It's more about the characters and the journey for me. I don't need the science to be believable.

Interesting take on the Valeyard and the new series

Early reviews of the leaked episodes is bleak. So bleak the guy says we shouldn't even watch the first two episodes.

Review from AICN.

Now I am even more intrigued.

All the reviews I've seen of Deep Breath have been overwhelmingly positive.

Ehhh, I take AICN reviews with a big grain of salt. The only reason to go to that site is for the reader comments -- people HATE Harry Knowles and the other idiots on the staff. The level of vitriol is unreal. Of course, there are good reasons to hate Harry Knowles. Just looking at him makes me slightly nauseated.

Actually, the problem with AICN is they come off as plants most of the time because Harry loves almost everything.

I get that one review is meaningless but I was a bit surprised that he went as far as to tell people to skip to the 3rd episode which he said was quite good.

Being that the third ep is the one "funny and lighthearted" episode, it seems like the guy's just butthurt over a darker tone.

Link doesn't work. And, being that "Name" and "Time" have confirmed the numbers, Valeyard has to be between "Journey's End" and the end of "The End of Time."

Link works fine for me. But I think the timing works better as still in the future. The great intelligence said it was in the future in name of the doctor. Plus it's supposed to be between the 12th and final incarnations, which could be any from here on out.

I'm really looking forward to the new Doctor. I tried watching Matt Smith but never could stomach his version very much. I hope the new one is good.

The Smithites are going to march on you....

I'm not one of them, but they are loud and proud.

No one is going to burn him. To each his own.

I mean, he's wrong. Matt was awesome. But, it's his prerogative to be wrong.
