Do Zack Snyder/Jessie Eisenberg think Lex Luthor is like the Joker?

Aside from being rich and hating Superman, I see nothing he has in common with the Luthor from the comics. Really the villain he has the most in common with is the Riddler. It would have been a good adaptation of that character, but a piss poor Luthor. Luthor should be intimidating as hell and not crazy. He's just smart and ruthless as shite.

I just imagine the two of them watching Heath Ledger in TDK and Snyder going, "Give me more of this, Jessie"

He failed miserably at that. The Joker had a very clear point in what he was doing. I still have no idea why Luthor was doing what he was doing. Was it just because he was crazy? I don't see that he was getting any monetary or worldwide benefit in this. I'd just think this Luthor would not give a shite about Superman, but he just goes after him for no apparent reason.

Should have brought back Michael to be a darker version.

I hated Luthor. Manic and annoying. I don't understand his vendetta against Supes, his evil plot, or how he knew their identities. He seemed appropriate to be a Batman nutcase villain.

Jesse Eisenberg is the one actor in Hollywood I actively try to avoid. He annoys me every time I see him on screen. Unfortunately, most of the films he's appeared in have been well-received so it seems like he's going to stick around for a while.

And all the early reports, I thought, said he was a great Luthor.

Which was the worst casting: Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman or Topher Grace as Venom in Spider Man 3?

Eisenberg. Venom is a bit more of a loose interpretation. His interpretation in that movie is still horrible, but not as bad as this.

From the previews I saw, this is not the Lex Luthor of Superman comics, but a cheap Hollywood creation/corruption to cash in on the Heath Leger Joker (who BTW was also a creature of Hollywood, not a totally faithful adaptation of the comic book Joker).

I had a feeling Eisenberg would be terrible. I can't stand him.

I'm surprised so many people missed the god fearing theme in this movie. Tons of exposition from let explaining his motives.

It's funny though bc in MoS, so many people complained that the dialogue and story hits you in face (like Zod's explanation to supes for why he exist before they battle). So this movie is made with more subtext and people completely misunderstand everything about the movie.

His dialogue was so shitty. The first half of the movie every time he talked it was just him telling some history story and trying to be philosophical. No actual conversations were had .

shite the majority of the time he was just saying random shite just to say it. He didn't do a bad job at being crazy but the entire character overall was just stupid.

It's gonna be hard to outdo Hackman as Lex. He had charisma and style. His character came natural to him

I thought he did a good job as Luthor.

It was a different take on the character, no doubt about that.

Like with every other character in the film, I didn't have a problem with the actor's portrayal, but the piss poor writing. It was so bad.

I like Eisenberg a lot, I do not really get the hate for him that I see on here. The Social Network is one of my favorite movies.

But, I will say that I think that he was miscast and the direction of Lex Luthor in BvS was not good.

He's the only part of the movie I had a big problem with. He just didn't fit, totally bad casting imo..

Snyder can't direct actors out of a wet paper bag. What's funny is that he was talking to Bryan Cranston for the role and had Eisenberg in mind for another -- it came down to Snyder just saying 'wouldn't it be cool if Eisenberg just played Lex?' And history was made.
