"Disney announced during its latest earnings report it intends to pull all its movies from Netflix

It also will launch an ESPN video streaming service in early 2018, including MLB, NHL and MLS content.

There's also plans to launch a branded Disney direct to consumer streaming service in 2019"

Had to be a pisser for Netflix considering that their best non-original content lately has been recent Disney films.

that's what we're moving to. Pretty soon you'll just pay for the 5 channels you watch

It's cheaper for me to buy a Blu Ray/DVD/Digital combo pack of Moana for my kids to watch over and over and over( at home, on the computer, and in the car) than it is to hope that it stays on Netflix.

I hope they go all out and put the classic stuff on there you don't see any more. I'm talking all the old Disney shorts and all the made for TV movies

That sound is Netfix parents gasping at how they won't pay another streaming service. Fire Stick is the only play now.

unless they unleash the vault and the star wars movies, and the marvel movies this will crash and burn rather spectacularly.

damn, that deal w/Netflix lasted what, a year?

and I'm not sure this is a good move for them.

I already have Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon on top of cable. I will not be getting another streaming service on top of that. If anything I'll be nixing things and I'm sure many other people will feel the same way.

I'm gonna laugh my arse off when this blows up in their face cause people do not want to support several streaming services.

I doubt that. If that's the only place to watch Disney movies then you better believe parents are going to pay.

There's no mention of the Star Wars movies in the article, they had just struck a deal for those. I guess that's gone as well. I wonder how this will affect all of their Marvel and ABC shows. Maybe that's why NetFlix just bought a comic book company run by the guy that wrote the story arcs for the Avengers, Civil War and Logan. LINK /

As much as people say they want a la carte TV, I don't know if this is actually true. People want lower prices moreso than fewer choices. Breaking away from the regional cable TV monopolies to national streaming TV services appears to have us headed in that direction.

I am surprised they are pulling out of netflix so soon but also surprised they haven't started their own streaming service sooner. Between all their classic movies, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, ABC, Disney Channel, and Freeform they have a ton of original content.
