I feel like they could've had someone close to Doakes (he had 4 sisters and a mom) get killed and Doakes hunt the guy down and he get off on a technicality. Then have Doakes catch Dexter killing that guy.

Didn't he have an affair with another cop's wife who got killed? Could have gone off of that storyline instead.

However, it is BS that Dexter never paid for killing Doakes. It should have been his downfall.

Yep.

He is supposed to kill bad people and the fact he killed a person that didn't deserve it should have been his downfall. He broke his code and deserved to pay.

Very upsetting this show went past season 4, which I put up on my top 5 list of best season of any show ever list.

ETA:
that was trinity killer season right? Maybe one season after that to close it down, but that's it. They fricked the show in the arse after 4.

Like others have said, Lyla killed him not Dexter. Dexter was going to let him go before Lila showed up

Yeah, I forgot she did that. I just finished rewatching season 1. About to start Season 2.

But this isnt a real life documentary. The point remains the same. The writers should've kept Doakes around. He was a great character.

shite have Dexter save Doakes from Lila, and then he kind of lay off for a bit. Next season, Doakes mom and sister get cut up by the cuban gang, the cuban gang hitman walks, Doakes sees Dexter catch the hitman. Something like that could've worked to have Doakes stay around the show. Maybe even a shakey alliance. Something like that.

He really didn't kill Doakes Lila did, who knows without Lila maybe this is how it would have payed out, cause if you remember he is able to kill Lila cause after she kills Doakes she fits in his code

He didn't kill him.. but anyways, this was his big revelation in the end of season 2. He couldn't willingly break his code and kill Doakes, so he accepted the fact that he had to pay for his crimes and was planning on turning himself in.

Seasons 1-4 are amazing. Seasons 5 and 6 are pretty good too. I agree and have said before they get way to much hate. EJO was great in season 6.

Season 7 got bad and Season 8 is one of the absolute worst series finales in television history. If not the absolute worst.

8 was so bad it made me irrationally angry at people I've never met.

I wanted to drag the director and writers into an alley and beat them with a night stick.

I wanted to put them in a refrigerated room, freeze their bodies, cut them into 17 pieces, wrap them in garbage bags, and drop them off a boat into the Mississippi for the crabs to eat.

On that note, Dexter's adversaries through season6 were all awesome characters. His brother was a great character, then Doakes, The Skinner, Trininty, Doomsday.

Yea and then they still have him kill a couple of people that don't fit his code.

Loved the show too.
I initially liked Miguel Prado but grew to really resent him and was glad when Dexter offed him

Doakes gets branded a serial killer and is forever enshrined as one of the worst people in american history.

Meanwhile, Prado goes down as a hero tragically killed by the Skinner. Aint that some shite.

That show made the entire Miami Police Department look like complete morons. It took what seven years for another person besides Doakes to figure out Dexter was a serial killer. All those idiots cared about was getting laid and furthering their careers.

they all banged each other. It got weird at some points.

Deb banged every dude she came into contact with relentlessly after barley knowing them.

Angel was into prostitutes, colleagues, LaGuerta, etc...

LaGuerta fricked superiors, subordinates, husbands of colleagues

Quinn nailed reporters, cops, prostitutes, IA investigators, etc...
