Damn that was a hell of a explosion and extremely unrealistic. The only way to get that much explosives close enough to the capital would be in a vehicle and there is no way the secret service doesn't lets a vehicle close enough to do that much damage.

I think thats kind of the point. Taking someone ordinary and putting them in such an extraordinary position in an extraordinary manner. I feel like the show has some promise.

Or something long range. It does seem unrealistic to a degree but let's allow it play out. It does seem another element of the show is to see how in the hell this could have happened in the first place.

It could be an inside job or a coup attempt. Kill all the elected officials and cabinet members except for the weakest one. Then turn the country against him and then the military takes him out and boom the general is President.

The country is on the brink of collapse and they want to set aside episode time to deal with his son being a drug dealer....

One of the arguments on Twitter is that it seems nonsensical to go to the White House immediately after the attack. I can see the logic, but the counter argument to that is all of Congress has been destroyed. No one really knows the Designated Survivor policy outside of government most likely so there was probably no imminent threat to a second attack. I'm sure my logic is flawed too but I think that's kind of the interesting part about the show.

Yeah, i kind of hope that's a one off and they don't make the kid a focal point. Keep it on the aftermath and the new president and investigation

I liked it. Love the premise and Sutherland is great. Agree I don't care about the kids but it's just filler. Seems like an inside job for sure. The General seems too easy a choice for bad guy though. Probably more to it. Maggie Q is great too.

I thought the acting was pretty terrible. The premise isn't bad, but they didn't capture the gravity of the situation at all. Also, the twist is obviously that it's a military coup.

I thought it was great! Sure you just gotta roll with some stuff but I loved the way he went all Jack Bauer on that Iranian Ambassador!

According to this account of the ppl that were with President Bush on 9/11 the White House was the last place that the Secret Service was taking the POTUS. Now that Air Force One has the ability to broadcast the POTUS's speech from the air it is much more likely that they would take the designated survivor to Andrews Air Force Base and get him air borne with fighter escorts ASAP and not to the White House.

Do you know what the name of the show ? Something has to happen for this scenario to be realized...

I enjoyed it. I'll keep watching. For the most part, pilots are setups are generally slow. I didn't find it slow at all. Kept me interested the whole way.

No kidding. That's the point of the scene. Sense of urgency. Him throwing up in the bathroom. Everything was just thrown on top of him immediately. I had no problem with the scene.
