It's a documentary. I didn't think the same spoiler rules apply. It's giving the general gist of a historical event. You read the book (or watch the documentary) if you care about the details. I'll delete it since people seem to care.

Eta: Oh yeah spoilers for that wwii doc you wanted to watch..
The Germans lose and the Japanese have 2 atomic bombs dropped on them.

but this movie is the measuring stick: if you don't cry during this movie, then you aren't capable of crying during any movie

It was absolutely gut wrenching. I am literally nauseous. Like on the verge of throwing up nauseous .I think I'll be ok bit it comes in waves and I get emotional yo the point of bejng sick again. Anyone who doesn't cry watching this is the clinical definition of a sociopath.

That was my feeling too.

You're wrong. Why not just put spoilers in front of your post? It's just basic courtesy.

I can see now how it might apply for this doc now, but as a general rule for docs I really don't think so. I'm generally really good about spoilers around here. Spoiling a documentary is like spoiling a textbook or spoiling the news to me. It just sounds silly to me.

Why does it sound silly?? Obviously 5his wasn't a huge news story that the average person was familiar with right? Why would you think it would be ok to revestory tbat people werent aware of as opposed it's fictional counterpart?

I'm not saying there isn't a spoilers cut off, but I just think when the OP says he's in the middle of watching it everyone should preface with spoilers if they're giving somewthing away. I'm probably just being a hardass about it though.

A documentary is a visual presentation of facts and events, frequently with the object of persuading the viewer. The object of watching a documentary is to get a more in depth understanding of a news story, historical event, or other technical field. Already knowing something about the story or field or knowing the general story and conclusion of the events doesn't spoil or ruin this object.

I've never gotten upset at someone telling me all about a subject or event then recommending a documentary for me to watch about it. If I think the subject is interesting and want more details I look into the documentary. Eta: in fact many conversations I have go like this. It's discussing topics that you think are interesting.

That said, I didn't consider it at the time, but I see now how this particular doc might be an exception.

Eta: for example, right now I'm about to watch the two Escobars 30 for 30. It happened when I was really young, so I didn't know the details until my boss and I were talking about it. He already gave me the gist of all that happened. It sounded interesting, and he recommended this doc. So now I'm watching it. I guess it was spoiled for me.

Or how about this, next time you want it spoiled for you, just google it and read about it.

I think you guys should look at my thread on documentaries and the ethics behind how the directors chose to convey information in them.

This falls right in that.

Dude you come on the Internet while you are watching the freaking show and ask questions and then whine when you get spoiled? That's on you.

Or how about this? You never discuss any subject with anyone ever because you consider any information you don't already know a spoiler.

Mouton shouldn't start a thread. However, this doc is follows a story that no one knows about and the doc effectives is all about you being along for the ride.

check out the follow up on the Youtube. The parents are still going strong

Dear Zachary

I keep saying I want to watch this, yet I never have. I'm a sap for stuff like this, so I know it'll hit me hard. But I also know it's well done and gets good reviews (aside from the soul crushing part).

Also I've done a great job of avoiding "spoilers". I know the basic premise, but based on casual glances through threads like this I get that there's some "twist" type thing at the end, which I don't know what it is.

I don't know if I can handle this.

Peazey

You can quit being an a-hole at any time. I mean, you're in control of your behavior...right? You don't have to embrace your douche.

Or feel free to embrace it! Whatever floats your boat, bruh!

I'll never get back how I felt before I watched this fricking movie. It was the biggest punch in the gut oh shite moment of all time.

I watched it again about a year later. Apparently, I like torture.
