Stewart or Colbert, kiss of death.
Stern, too old and he's turned into a comedic pussy.
The guy they should approach, but won't- Tom Green
He's a great interviewer. His talk show on AXS TV is great. If you haven't seen his show you are missing the birth of a great host.

Longest birth ever. He's been a strugglin ghost for like 2 decades now.
It'll most likely be Kimmel.
But honestly i wouldnt mind seeing Green get a shot. Problem is he has a tendency to let shite go ot his head and do something so stupid it isnt enjoyable to watch which will kill the rankings and the producers know that.

That's why Stern complimented his show and interview skills recently. Try again.

What does that have to do with the fact that Green has been a struggling Host for like 20 years now?

The biggest problem with Tom Green is that it's not a name that will excite people. Kimmel, Stewart, Colbert or Ellen would make people interested.

Perhaps the most irony that I've ever seen in a TD thread. Suggesting Letterman is tired and stale, yet pimping Howard Stern and/or Tom Green as a replacement.
BTW, at one time I thought Letterman had lost it completely. But I actually think in the last couple of years he's become more enjoyable as an interviewer than he's been in years. More laid back and seems genuinely interested in the guest.

frick, if I wouldn't have read the entire thread, I would have beat you to it.
NPH's show just finished, he is a great talkshow host (see when he filled in for Regis).
It is a lock!!!
People keep saying Letterman has sucked for the last 20 years. If he sucked, CBS would have pulled him. Its just Letterman didn't care about ratings as much as others. He owns his show and Ferguson's show. NBC owns the shows on NBC.
Letterman has been making the jack!!!!

I like Letterman a lot.
But Conan and Fallon are who I watch more, so whatever.
Wonder who will replace him?

No one is going to beat Fallon right now. He's killing it.

what's your problem with Fallon? Kimmel can't touch Fallon on ABC, it wouldn't be that drastic of a difference on CBS

Conan went to tbs, a Viacom owned channel, for a reason.

Stewart has gotten a little too full of himself. He's a great guy and smart and his show is great but that's where he belongs. I dont think he'd do well as a true late night show host.

I'd watch every night if they got him. They should start him off on one of the later late shows.
His video podcast interviews on youtube are insanely funny,

Adam Carolla is brilliant, sadly that would never happen.

i don't trust mashable as a reliable news source. but it wouldn't surprise me if it is colbert. he would bring a big, young demographic following with him to compete with Jimmy

I'm telling you, Colbert has the broad appeal. Stewart is seen as being too cynical (and too Jewish) to take over the Late Show.
And this is CBS. They're not going to go for a Tom Green or a Howard Stern. They'll want someone with the gravitas of Letterman but with a younger and more charming personality.
They want Colbert.

I wouldn't be surprised it this guy didn't show up somewhere in late night when the dust settles.
