But no one has fed the people quite like Dakota Johnson while promoting her upcoming Madame Web, a movie she seems to simply despise.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Johnson shared that this was her first time working with a blue screen, an experienced she called “absolutely psychotic.” (“There’s fake explosions going off, and someone’s going, ‘Explosion!’ and you act like there’s an explosion.”) “I was like, ‘I don’t know if this is going to be good at all! I hope that I did an okay job!’” she continued. In her Saturday Night Live monologue a few days later, she also called the film “kind of like if AI generated your boyfriend’s perfect movie.” Not an indictment in the context of the monologue, but not exactly a ringing endorsement, either.
Then again, it seems like Johnson is just really fed up with Hollywood in general, whether that feeling stemmed from this experience or not. “I am discovering that it’s really fricking bleak in this industry. It is majorly disheartening,” she said in a recent interview with L’Officiel (via IndieWire). “People are just so afraid, and I’m like, why? What’s going to happen if you do something brave? It just feels like nobody knows what to do and everyone’s afraid. That’s what it feels like. Everyone who makes decisions is afraid. They want to do the safe thing, and the safe thing is really boring.”

They’d be better off showing Sydney Sweeney in a tight latex outfit and letting that be the marketing for it
Does anyone want this movie ? Feels like it will bomb hard

I wonder if it'll do worse than Blue Beetle did. That film did 72 mil domestic, 130 WW.

Strange to me that these actors or agents can't do the smallest amount of research to figure out the difference between the MCU and the SPUMM.
Kraven: Animal Whisperer will be equally dreadful. I also read that Sony is also reconsidering restarting the El Muerto project. Most studio heads are clueless to what people want, but I can't think of one worse than Amy Pascal.

Sony Pictures, it's even worse.

Have no interest in seeing this but good lord I didn't even know this was coming out. And I stay on a random movie/tv forum talking about movies a good portion of the week I mean they have done like zero marketing. Haven't seen a single trailer on TV.

Exactly. Sony's basically given up on it. It's probably a terrible film.

Well that insinuates that she gets naked in it, which I doubt.

By brave, does she mean something with woke vibes? Because that's all they seem to be putting out lately. Although I'd argue that making shite movies with shite messages like that knowing they will bomb at the box office is on some level of brave since the ultimate goal is to make money and be profitable.

Sony needs to quit trying to make that Spider-Man universe thing happen. Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter both look ghastly.
Just make animated Spider-Man movies - those are actually good and popular.

I was watching an interview with Sweeney talking about things she wanted incorporated from the comic with Spider-Woman that I thought was a cool nod. But that was literally the first real marketing I saw of it.
But yeah, it must be bad. Which is unfortunate because I would definitely have watched a Madame Web movie (some nostalgia for her in the 90s Spider-Man show in an older version voiced by Joan Lee).

Right now, brave would be a Judd Apatow type comedy.
But nowadays, even the people that made those are too worried about offending people to make a funny movie.

Can't believe they didn't emphasize Sydney Sweeney in the marketing. I'm wondering if her team warned them off of involving her, knowing it was a bomb.

i actually think it looks like it won't suck. ATJ is great and they're going for a hard R. Venom and Carnage kinda sucked because they kept it at PG13.

The reality is a movie like this is now fighting the oversaturation of the super-hero movie.

Yep, Sony's done well with these films regardless of quality. The venom films were quite profitable, so I get why they're still making them. But audiences are not showing up in droves for comic films anymore. All studios have to start being smarter making films in this genre.

Eh the Venom films turned a profit but that’s more because of the popularity of Venom and Tom Hardy. Morbius bombed hard and Madame Web will too and I can’t imagine Kraven will do well either. I’m not sure what Sony’s plan is especially with Spidey in the MCU and they keep putting all of his villains in a different universe.

i saw GotGv3 in theater out of respect for Gunn and Pratt, but i'm now out. maybe if a DC comes out on Max or something interesting on D+ whenever i bring those services back online.
if they do something interesting like a good spawn, youngblood, or bone, then i could be interested, but rehashing MCU, DCEU, and Spidey-verse just aren't interesting to me any more.

I would say that trying to make Spiderman movies without Spiderman is the very definition of "brave."
They're making movies around characters that are barely known outside of the hardcore fans and cosplay types. It could work as long as the movies work as stand-alone action/scifi films, but that requires a little more than a green screen and some laptop editing.
