No, they picked him because they couldn't get the rights to the Flash for whatever reason.

Unless Chloe Sullivan is suddenly a new alter ego of a fairly well-known supervillain like Caitlin Snow is, the comparison is invalid.

Felicity is a closer doppelganger for Chloe than Caitlin... if you're trying to create matches between Smallville and Flash.

I would definitely agree with that.

Smallville had its moments both good and bad. I know alot of people are attributing DC's TV renaissance to Arrow but I think thats only partly true. Arrow would never have existed without Smallville.

Has anyone else noticed this? I watched every episode of Smallville and have watched every episode of The Flash to-date. Here are the similarities to me:
you do know most comic book characters are very similar to each other.

When Smallville arrived it was compared to Buffy. All of these shows are building on each other.

I have no idea who Caitlin Snow is. I've never heard that name before. I don't read comic books though. Is that where it is from?

She is Killer Frost in the comics.

Again, another name I have never heard of.

I can't help you there. I was just answering your question as to whether or not she was from the comics.

I see your point with the comparisons. I'm a huge Smallville fan, myself. However, there are some major differences as well, as other posters have pointed out.

My thing is that Smallville ended in 2011. Whats the harm in having a similar show using a different hero in 2014?

ETA: My point is, if you like Smallville, why complain about this?

Going from "No flights, no tights" to "In costume fighting a supervillain in the first episode" pretty much negates Flash from being a Smallville remake.

Oh, I am not complaining. Quite the opposite. I actually really enjoy finding similarities. I enjoy seeing a successful formula rehashed with some variations. That is why I love every story that follows the traditional Hero's Journey and tend to not like stories that abandon it.

No.

There are several huge differences that make this comparison null and void.

I'm re-watching smallville as we speak and other than the similarities of the meteor rock/particle accelerator explosion, they aren't unusually comparable at all.

I haven't watched any of Arrow, surprisingly. By the time I even knew the show existed, a whole season had passed and I was too lazy to catch up.

You should, immediately.

I may be a Superman and Wonder Woman couple fan but I relly loved Clark and Lois relationship on the show. They had sizzling chemistry, looked like they genuinely loved each other and were just great together.

It also helps that Erica Durance is indisputably the GOAT Lois Lane and the best portrayal of the character ever. Amy Adams from MoS ain't got shite on her.

I was such a huge Lana/Clark fan until the episode where Clark and Lois are being tortured into telling the truth and Lois is forced to admit she loves Clark (albeit she later denies it). After that I was all about some Clois.

For reference LINK

eta: And I agree about Durance being the best Lois. It's really should not even be in question IMO.

Flash has more action than smallville. In the coifs, Clark goes around the world fighting bad guys( drug lords, Terrorists, warlords in africa) and stopping fires and earthquakes while being a silent guardian. he doesn't do shite in smallville.
