the more i think about it, the more it may be in my top 15 favorite movies. easily top 25.

only complaint is that the desert flashback sequence is a little too long.

beautiful movie with meticulous, refined execution in every department

Yes. Don't watch the dubbed version. The one on on demand is Chinese with subtitles. It's under oscars, foreign movies/documentaries

Michelle Yeoh is remarkable in this. Supremely graceful, wise, and sad.

I watched it again a few months ago and it wasn't as magical as I remembered. Maybe I'm just older and crabbier now.

Well, at the time, it was revolutionary (at least for Western audiences) film -- like the Matrix.

yeah, hero was good, but a little too self-indulgent. didn't have as relatable a story and it tried a little too hard in some areas. it was still a 4/5 for me though

when i rewatched it a month ago (for the first time in several years), it was more magical for me.

Lo goes from an awesome character in the flashback to a whiney annoyance in the present part. He also puts up with a ton of crazy shite from Jen. She ducking stabs him and he doesn't give a shite.

But then, she's super super hot.

I agree to a certain extent for an average audience, but I know plenty of people who watch foreign movies.

This movie has a lot more comedy in it than I remember.

"They keep taking it and returning it, taking and returning it. My house is becoming a warehouse."

Horribly injured man"She kept accusing me of Being Gou's brother. Who is gou."
"Her husband."
Everyone shrugs

This.

At one point Hero was my favorite of the 3, but I am pretty sure CT,HD is the superior movie.

edit- Throw in City of God and these are my 4 favorite international films
